Regarding this album, and to understand what kind of character Prince is, I quote from an article by Eddy Cilia: "(...) Warner suggests to Prince that Maurice White of the then-popular Earth, Wind & Fire supervise the recordings. (...) Prince refuses, saying that within a year Earth, Wind & Fire will be finished, and that his sound is that of the future and wants nothing to do with the miseries of the present. An act of astounding arrogance, which does not fail to impress the record executives. They pretend to gift him some hours in the studio so he can tape some additional demos and send spies to watch him, under the guise of cleaning staff, producers of the caliber of Ted Templeman and Lenny Waronker. They observe him at work, return, and report: <<He has no need for us.>>"

I would have loved to see him when he passed through Brussels two weeks ago, but the tickets sold out in a flash. I hope I won't have to wait another 4 years!

I quote Flo on some comments above, the group isn’t for me, but the review is one of the best I've read here in a long time.

Just finished watching it now. Three hours of film without a moment of boredom, IMHO. Among the best films by Scorsese.

(I end the comment by replying to myself) in his biography Doughty, besides reconstructing the birth of Soul Coughing, never names the other members of the group, so much did they get on his nerves. An interesting read, if only for the part where he recalls the time he smoked heroin with his friend Jeff Buckley. Different times, there's no denying that.
