I quote the Trattore: "do we want to say that they are not the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion?" You can definitely tell they are not JSBX (just to mention one of the many names brought up in the comments). Too tame for my tastes, I'm out and signing off.

A singer who during live performances puts a bunch of stuff on his head and then hits himself with a microphone until he bleeds can only have all my respect.

I always read your reviews with great interest, both for the expertise with which you write and because you cover a field that is not very common here on Deb. Well done and keep it up.

this disc is great, Family Tree stands out above all the other tracks, which are all pretty good anyway.

What a coincidence, I’m reading this review on Nels Cline, and just today (since I’ve been curious about him for a while) I started listening to Chest, one of his works released in 1993 (I believe). I will also get this.

A group I know little about, aside from a casual listen (many years ago) of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Yet this record has intrigued me quite a bit, to the point that as a nearly complete novice, I’ll be going to see them live. I enjoyed the more electric moments; I would be curious to hear an album of theirs with a "futuristic" approach in the vein of Art of Almost.
