I know the book you’re talking about, it was widely quoted in the beautiful article that Stefano Bianchi dedicated to japanoizu in an issue of Blow Up from 1998: everything and much more about Boredoms, Hanatarash, and spin-offs: Omoide Hatoba, Z-Rock Hawaii, OOIOO, UFO or Die... one of the most beautiful pieces of music journalism I have ever read. I'm not familiar with the other bands you mention, maybe you could do a review!

I bought Industrial Silence on eBay, and I've just started listening to it for the first time now. It's not bad at all!

I only know them by hearsay. Besides this anthology, are there any of their albums you would recommend?

In 1996, Bono gave Tricky a sneak peek—when the album was nearly finished—of several tracks from Pop. When asked for his opinion on what he had heard, Tricky replied eloquently: "Dude, this is garbage"…

@ sodo_caustico: on www.rrrecords.com you can find Hanatarash 3, it costs 8 dollars excluding shipping. The other Hanatarash CDs are extremely rare; I occasionally look for them on eBay.

I know them as hanatarash: these two raging madmen (yamatsuka eye, later in Boredoms and taketani ikuo) completely destroyed a venue they were playing at in Osaka, during a "concert" where they threw Molotov cocktails at each other (as well as at the audience, which, at this point, I can’t understand why they went to see them). On a similar occasion, Eye almost cut off his leg while "performing" with a circular saw (and meanwhile, scenes from the movie Non aprite quella porta were projected on a screen). I don’t have anything of theirs; I hope to find something like psycopompe soon.

This story about the ship of fools seems vaguely familiar to me. Does anyone have more specific details?
