Charles Mingus The Great Concert Of Charles Mingus

The only jazz musician I'm familiar with, precisely for his "carnality" in the approach you highlighted. My favorite is Blues and Roots, I really miss that.

I also prefer this to IABUTS. It’s true that there are no more Carlens and Trouvè, but there’s a Craig Ward who turns out to be an equally creative guitarist, complementing Barman’s pop writing (here at his peak as a songwriter, and it’s no coincidence that as soon as Ward left the band, Barman entered into a crisis); the string arrangements (by Klaas Janzoons) are understated and not baroque as often happened in the previous album (Gimmie the Heat); to me, it seems like the most cohesive work, more of a group effort than the individual personalities of this excellent band. Listening to it again nearly 10 years later, it still holds up remarkably well.

I remember them being quite dull yet excited by most of the magazines of the time. Maybe I'll dig them up, we'll see.

My girlfriend has some of her CDs, now -given the post-move shock- they will be hidden in some box somewhere. "Here the days are made of heavy yet fast clouds (...)" oh yes Target, that's exactly how it is. Added to the favorites.

this passage has rightly been put in bold: "dominatrix of overwhelming emotions, grawl always on (? I have the microwave on, I’m going to turn it off) swirling and seductive yet determined use of instruments reminiscent of the exhilaration of the epic tones from the string family with a touch of keyboard." immediate literary case.
