When melancholy, anguish, and solitude pervade my soul, when sadness reigns supreme in my darkest moments in search of a remedy for my miserable existence forced to live in a world where corruption, hypocrisy, and the manifestation of evil are dispersed in such a way as to presumably be the source of all despair, there sometimes exists an art, a music, something that captures my attention, something I can always rely on, something mysterious, enchanting, and macabre harmony that, with missionary stealth, spies on my soul and drags it into a gloomy place, a dream from which I never want to wake. Lux Occulta "Dionysos," yes, this was the dream I was referring to. They are a band not so famous among the masses, but not for this reason a synonym of degradation or simply distrust. On the contrary, they make music something unique in their compositions.
I would say almost impossible to find given the genius of the Lux goes beyond every imagination. A jewel which only a few chosen ones manage to intersect in the meandering and funeral complexities of the compositions and melodies that perhaps marked the band's rise and perhaps their greatest masterpiece. An exceptional mixture, a fusion between Avant-garde metal, progressive, and pure symphonic black metal. Such magnificence is evident in "Dionysos" in all its entirety; we have majestic and complex passages like only good prog can give us, traveling into the aggressive world of extreme with rhythmic scales and mystical tempos that make your hair stand on end. Here is the true style and genius of the band. But now the dream begins; I find myself bewildered like a fish out of water, suddenly I hear a piano, sweet fingers caressing the instrument, we are at the first track of the album "The Birth Of The Race", the atmosphere changes, the landscape becomes black, it seems to descend into darkness, suffocating passages of powerful drums and guitars, excessive use of the latter, an aggressive growl like a demon ready to possess you, a subliminal message, an infinite, incessant work, then the sound begins to take on a symphonic tone, a decadent and transcendental atmosphere like an ocean of damned souls, the symphony is the andante that leads us to "Blessed Be The Rain" dominator of overwhelming emotions, growl always on, swaying seductive and decisive use of the instruments stemming from the intoxication of the epic tones of the string family with a touch of keyboard which makes the track even more incessant.
The dream takes a different turn at a point, the resonances begin to become gloomy fields when approaching "Chalice Of Lunar Blood", a trembling voice stimulates suffocation like a pass through the gates of hell in the most viscous swamps of Hades. Guitars serving the melodies seem almost to echo the characteristics of misty and sometimes touching Doom, a prophetic dance in hydrators of some god, a sacrifice drawn up in music, the true masterpiece of the album. My journey continues towards the darkness, a tunnel of suffocating mastery, pure power in the dark world of Black Metal, but from afar a sweet sound like a glimmer of light in the darkness. A flute that intercedes with all the magic of the piece, a terrifying growl, a song that lulls my existence, a scream against the domestic world, mother of all evils. Now I am ready to dive beyond the tunnel, "Ecstasy And Terror" my salvation, again the typical atmospheres of symphonism and the enchantment that this group manages to convey. Unfortunately, the dream is about to end, I have reached the peak "Upwards To Conquer Heaven" my Postludium, my Requiem, the form of utopia in relation to the fusion between decadent and apocalyptic Metal with orchestral frames re-experienced by the nth overwhelming epicity in the operatic structures brought to the magnificence that "Dionysos" is able to convey.
I no longer want to leave this fairy tale, I don't want to intercede again with reality, I want to be forever enclosed in "Dionysos" and its monumental art.
