I did not bring up the usual stories about Cobain, I don’t speak with bias; I remember everything from those years, instead of studying I spent my time with music. Cobain was overexposed, by his own choice, while Staley wasn’t. I wrote above that, in my opinion, Cobain had talent, more singer-songwriter than anything else; the arrangements of Nirvana are nothing special, the lyrics are. The music was pop, what he said wasn’t. I don’t confine them to a media phenomenon, make that clear, that’s what you say; it’s certainly true that they are the ones who "exploited" the support of the media the most, and the media did the same with them.

finally, a little chaos breaks loose; it always takes nirvana for these things. Well, maybe I exaggerated a bit, but only to a certain extent. That nirvana makes pop disguised as distortion is an old, worn-out story. The discourse around Cobain always seems the same to me; some see him as a champion of consistency, but I don’t. Let's not say heresies about AIC, please, as AIC and Soundgarden videos did get aired, sure, even Pantera were played, but they weren't regular features in interviews and shows at all. Kurt was a lost junkie with serious problems that I won’t discuss here, but he certainly didn’t do much to avoid overexposing himself, quite the opposite, unlike Staley, just to say.

I'll say my piece. What I've never been able to stand is that "I hate being your idol, I hate selling millions of records, I hate myself" vibe when he spent his days on MTV, practically a permanent fixture, worse, much worse than the Guns (who, by the way, I can't stand either) just to mention one that many here criticize without any understanding. He had songwriting talent (Kurt), but musically they don't mean a damn, I'm sorry, pop songs of the worst kind dressed up with a bit of distortion. A little consistency wouldn't hurt, because consistency is a good thing, not to mention the nonsense (changing your mind is a sign of intelligence, while being wishy-washy is a sign of opportunism).

Anyway, Andy is very good... the prejudice is justifiable, it's a shame those records that really have something to say suffer for it. I don’t know this one. Nice review...
