Seen at a Love Parade in Zurich at the end of the zeroes (8, 9, maybe even 10). I don’t remember anything about what was played except for a little voice between tracks that said "two-five-six-two...too..good...two -five-six-good..." and then raised the volumes again.

It may not be his best performance (although it rivals Capote at the top), but it's definitely his best character. I don't understand why this film isn't liked by everyone; just for Mr. Vestaglietta (best pusher in history) and the Judaeo-Arab Scavenger and the Death Metal robber, Lumet deserves credit. Three supporting characters that are nothing short of perfect.

I like Cervantes, but my favorite is Herrer; both in terms of cultivation techniques and writing. Herrer is a hell of a character, sometimes he feels like your stoner friend, sometimes like your history teacher. When it comes to "addiction," I completely agree with you, it is an addiction. Smoking a joint once a week is one thing; getting high every day on grams of super potent hydroponic Super Silver Haze is another. I know a lot of people who feel bad if they don't smoke. It passes after about ten days, but for the first two, you don't sleep, period. 100% of the cases (who are getting high on real fuckin' ganja, not two joints a month) for the first two days can’t sleep, and in the following days either they go running or at least move around because the agitation is palpable, believe me. And everyone says after a while, "Damn, do you know that I wake up and JUMP out of bed? Damn, I JUMP! Just HOOOP!" Everyone. I know people who have developed amazing hobbies to keep themselves busy; the most striking is someone who used to ride a bike, now he builds off-road vehicles and participates in races. He didn’t even know what the hell spark plugs were, and now he talks about carburetor tuning with a passion that’s even more intense than for girls.

But say that it is still an adaptation of an autobiographical book. I discovered it by mistake, since I don't trust Scorsese as a screenwriter, so I checked. Then again, it's Scorsese, nothing to say, but it's the story that makes at least 50% of the film. I'll buy the book, then I'll watch the film (downloaded).

Everyone prefers Firewood over the first one, you should give it a listen again. I have it, but I found it pretty trashy, I don't remember anything.

I don't know if it's really fabulous, the now rare occasions when I drive under conditions for immediate arrest... it makes the situation worse by sending me onto the A666 towards Mordor.
