Cleo, be careful because there are 97 versions of this album (it's said to be the best-selling in the history of Jazz). I recommend the 4-CD version; it costs €29, but there are more than 4 hours of music—2 studio CDs, a terrifying live session, and a studio session that is such a masterpiece it sounds like an album from 2012. Plus, it comes in a stylish box set, all cardboard, with a big booklet of photos that will have you in stitches; just look at the faces of Dave Holland and Jarrett, and you'll laugh for a couple of hours. Anyway, this is an album you must own in its original version, undoubtedly one of the 10 most groundbreaking albums in history.

But I'm also quite against it... but this album came out, after all. They're already taking it on tour, the file sounds divine and so I deduce that it was digitalized by them... and they want reviews to be written. Then, if it had been an album where sound played a main role, that's one thing, like Aphex Twin, but here in the end, the craziest games are played with the double-triple voices and various overlapping chords, and I don't think it changes much from the file I have to the audio tracks. Maybe the album will prove me wrong, but for now, I'm convinced this way. And then you can't calculate the immense pleasure I get from making you envious... you don't have it yet, eeehh.... gnè gnè gnè gnè gnè... I had it right away... gnè gnè gnè... It came out Thursday morning on The Fade and by Thursday evening I had it in my hands... gnè gnè gnè gnè... :)) (I'm putting in the smiley faces, but imagine a nice raspberry, it conveys more)

No, now I've gotten a job as a cleaner in the building where zzzzzzzzzz works, so I can follow her incognito... damn, I’m so diabolical, aòh!

It bothers me to read "as if by magic, the alchemy of musicians fused into one sound"... as if "by magic"? It’s called LSD, for fuck's sake, not magic. Another thing that annoys me is when my dad sees someone and calls him a junkie, then sees Miles and calls him a genius... then if you bring up the discussion about "Dad, Davis was one of the worst drug addicts in history," he turns it around with "unfortunately yes, no one is perfect." A couple of bullshits in my opinion—without the insane highs and lows they went through, this album wouldn’t have come out. Music & Drugs go hand in hand; all the best musicians in the world are or were on drugs—it's 2005, and we need to start admitting it. Damn, you go to Jazz.com and it seems like all the jazz musicians have been touched in the head by the Madonna... give me a break, they’re all more relaxed than the next, aside from rare cases like Chick Corea or Herbie Hancock—the rest ended up worse than Ozzy Osbourne. Keith Jarrett is so relaxed he can’t take it anymore; I’ve seen a dozen of his interviews spread over about 20 years (I’m talking about the recording dates of the interviews) and he always says the same things. Aside from those when he was young, when he really can’t speak because of the turmoil in his head :D

You listen to the record, and you’ll understand where I’m coming from. I don’t know why, but all the guys I know believe that Jazz is what Louis Armstrong plays – trumpet + piano = hyper-relaxation. This has a much deadlier drive than many rock bands; it contains madness, improvisation, fun, innovation, psychedelic rock funk electronic... and so, so many burned-out neurons, really a ton. The Trumpet is a wind instrument, and to have breath, you need to have the physique, or you need to dope up. Miles had the breath (ex-boxer) and on top of that, he was getting high here... pulling out certain stories from that piece of brass that you couldn't even create with a computer. So much has been said about this record; I’ve watched DVDs and read reviews, but none have ever talked about the raucous side of this work. It’s not that Miles Davis sat down and said, "now I’m going to change the way jazz is understood,” he simply got high with his friends and they started playing, and here we are.

Ah Benzo, let me ask you something out of curiosity, since I've never read Zorn's bio. Why did the first album by Naked City come out in '89, and then in '90 we have this album by Zorn called Naked City which, however, features all the members of Naked City? I've never seen an original copy, so I haven't read the credits either, along with Zorn's bio :) I've read the booklets of Naked City many times and the compositions are by this one and that one, and some by everyone, so I really can't explain this release under Zorn's name. I've always thought it was an album composed solely by Zorn and played by the band, but I've never looked online for evidence to support my theory :)

Oh, I also have a branch in Fano, managed by Cleo. She seems really good, but deep down, between one package and another... she sneaks in a half herbal tea. In fact, Asband is always suspicious when she comes into the kitchen smiling and exclaiming "today... pappardelle with porcini!"... yeah, yeah... the porcini... yeah, yeah...

I run a mail-order for mescaline drugs. Basically, it's just me and Enrico Lucci in an office; we receive the emails and prepare the packages with mushrooms and pre-packaged herbal teas. The album is not a hoax, simply because I’m already on tour. The album is out precisely because I’m on tour. As vv says, Josh wants to do Sold Outs, so he's promoting the album, people are listening to it and want to see them live. Every track of this album made in Milan is exactly the same as what you can hear here. No hoax, it’s a new album by QOTSA already mixed and produced as it will appear on the shelves. Simply because the tour will end only a few days before the release, and I don’t believe Josh will come back from the world tour and rush back into the recording studio; rest assured, this is the album. What I think is somewhat of a hoax is the new Mars Volta album that’s circulating online, which, "by ear," I believe is still to be properly mixed and with some adjustments to the sound. I'm not sure though. :)
