<< too elaborate to be metal >> This is fabulous. "Too elaborate to be Metal": it’s an astonishing contradiction.

<< ghermison lives in Bologna and even there he can't be found... strange case of life, don't you think? >> And what's the point? Houdini is not out of print. Period. It's available, it's still "in print," it's not sold out and it's even in "nice price." << How long has it been, 1 or 2 years? >> I felt good late, because they were friends of Cobain I snubbed them a priori like all grunge more than ten years ago. Rediscovered Buzzo thanks to Patton in '98 with Fantomas, rediscovered Crover with Porn thanks to Acid King, and bought the first Melvins album in 2003. << You still need to digest them enough >> What nonsense. They do very simple things, in fact, extremely simple. They vary a lot, that's for sure, but it's not like they produce bricks like Red (K)Crayola or similar. With a decent number of similar records listened to, you can digest the Melvins in two days. Of course, if you listen to NOFX before the Melvins it takes twenty years, but for Sludge, Stoner, Drone, and all Heavy in general, I already had my ears full enough not to be scared by Buzzo's four chords. What I like about the Melvins is that they are just so simple. But, super simple.

"So tomorrow you’re coming to take a look around Naples and tell me how many records you find in the store?" Ah, okay. So it works like this: if a record can't be found in Naples... well, it’s out of print. Obviously. Naples is the universal center for the record industry, it’s taken as a benchmark for the rest of the world. "Then if you’ve read that some critic..." I don’t buy music magazines, and I haven’t read “critics” of any kind for ages. "sludge speed dark symphonic metal" No one said that the Melvins do ONE thing, except YOU. The Melvins vary, from song to song, across many styles. You can find Hard Rock just as you can find the opposite. "For me, the Melvins are the Melvins." Wow, really? And here I thought they were doing Gazosa. "Sure you bought the whole Melvins discography online." Where I live, you can’t even find Metallica, so of course I bought them online, and I’m also proud to have the original discography of the Melvins. I’ve never bought a record in my country, in my whole life. "You’ve read a couple of crap...and draw your conclusions..." It’s not me attributing a statement made by Buzzo 20 years ago as if it were still reliable, after 20 years, 40 records, and hundreds of various collaborations. That’s you. Read less "crap," and diversify your listening.

<< Anyway, it’s true... it’s out of print! >> Absolutely findable, like all the discography of the Melvins. The only things that are really a bit harder to find are the three EPs "Dale Crover," "Joe Preston," and "King Buzzo," but those can also be found. Sure, not at the Auchan, but they are still available.

<< Too bad there's a side B to "My War," the second album by Black Flag, that explains a few things! >> Still with this bullshit? It dates back to an interview from almost 20 years ago and 30 albums ago. With this statement, you limit that great man Buzzo in an absurd way. Buzzo has played everything, experimented with every kind, laid the foundations for 80 million subgenres... and you insist on this nonsense that he takes everything from just one album. Buzzo does Drone? Oh well, he took it from Black Flag (?!). Buzzo does Sludge? Oh well, he took it from Black Flag (?!?). Buzzo does Doom? Oh well, he took it from Black Flag (?!?). What leads you to say this is the fact that you've never listened to even half an album of metal or its derivatives in your life, and the closest thing to the Melvins you know are Black Flag. Yes, the punk band most similar to the Melvins is Black Flag, but there are nine hundred metal-like bands from which Buzzo has taken and takes, and eight million that take from Buzzo, re-edit and Buzzo takes back from the re-edited. But no, 40 albums and 20 years of career, oh well, all come from a side B of one album. 4 songs that generate 900. And why is that? Because when he was a kid over 20 years ago, he said that was his favorite album. Read fewer interviews and listen to more Rock, it's better.

<< I think the ugliest cover in the history of rock >> You forgot about Hawkwind, who after breaking up, reunited under the name "Hawklords," with this cover here -> Ingrandisci questa immagine <- Anyway, it's a tough competition; I remember a fabulous forum by Ajeje where you could find tons of trash, but I think the ugliest was found by Kosmo... maybe the Scissor Sisters, but I'm not too sure. /// << the first of those that would later be called supergroups >> No. The first "supergroup," without even going far, were indeed Cream.

You could have mentioned the hilarious cover of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" by Nina Simone, even though one could say it's the cover of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" by Nina Simone reinterpreted by the Animals. But it's hilarious all the same. Their masterpiece for me is With Visions (maybe because Wino is more present); both this one and last year's are nice, but they didn't convince me enough to buy them.

<< Bjork may be quirky, but I believe that behind her apparent extravagance, if you dig deeper, you find music without soul, experimental only in form, with standard content. >> True, Saputè, but deep down, she’s still a pop star. Let’s say that all the avant-garde enthusiasts don’t exactly wait for Bjork’s albums to proclaim a miracle. I used "quirky" just to avoid exaggeration. She’s not crazy, she’s not "sick in a good way," she’s just quirky. Not that this is a flaw; I’ve always liked her. Perhaps it’s because I used to listen to her first single while going to the beach as a child, on the Festivalbar compilation in '91 (or '90, I can't remember), but I never had high expectations. The Festivalbar is like a brand burned into your skin; you can't easily shake it off :D. When she drops her cool tracks, it's all "extra" compared to the expectations I usually have. Very often, I prefer the remixes to the originals; that’s where she usually puts in a bit more effort (or whoever works with her). /// bjork68, and how about throwing in a "gnè gnè gnè" with a combined action of "mirror reflection without return"?
