Yes Kosmo, you are absolutely right, for Hal we need Jazzmatazz Vol 1, Vol 2 isn't bad either, but I find it less experimental, Vol 3 is just okay, I haven't listened to it closely but it didn't entice me to do so either.

Damn, accents are not my strong suit :)!! Anyway, Hal, if you want to listen to Rap, you should start with some hybrids. I recommend the "Beastie Boys," their latest release "Hello Nasty" is a beautiful album, featuring some pure Rap tracks alongside good Crossover and some really serious instrumentals (which I think you’ll like). That way, you can digest it better, and if you end up not liking the Rap, you won’t have to cross it. :)

The new one from Sole is nice. For serious information, I go to // www.rapreviews.com // it’s the one least influenced by the majors. I don’t trust "Source" and "Tha Vibe" anymore; they give good reviews to emerging artists, but they treat already famous ones with too much leniency.

Eminem is good, but he has been full of himself since he "fought" with Everlast from House of Pain. He has exaggerated; he thinks he’s a god on earth, but we'll see if he can withstand the "test of time." (See GangStarr)

Talib Kwely is among my favorites (Mos Def is more serious though), I agree that Guru has stayed the same as he was many years ago, but he was one of the first to introduce that laid-back way of rapping, so let’s say he “can afford it.” As for the Roots, I didn't like Phrenology, not even compared to "Do You Want More," "Illadelph Halflife," and "Things...". Currently, I think the best are "Non Phixion." However, Gangstarr remain the best because they have never "missed" even one album. And in these times, that’s a great quality. For ANTICON, a good product was released in October, the artist is "Sole" and the album is "Bottle Of Human."
