dear mr.nobody, sooner or later I will manage to put something down, even if lately the wind has been blowing too strong (forgive the weather-related metaphor). x socrates: listen, it may be true that jonh legend is not a giant (of course we know that) but tell me, can you explain to the kids who have no way of savoring soul music that for us of a certain age it's a certain relief to hum the melody of ordinary people while we walk straight through the park path full of fallen leaves and catch a glimpse of a young maiden who is running, maybe swaying, and smiling faintly (perhaps just at us)?

Hi Socrates, I’ve been re-listening to the album that I had also set aside for a while. And I agree with you. It seems to me a mostly successful pop album in the "black" tradition, which is not easy to find these days. "Ordinary People" is an almost perfect song. Maybe it lacks a bit of anger overall... he seems like an artist to follow. Speaking of young talents, have you had a chance to hear 'White Lies' by Haddy N'jie? I think you’d like it...

great socrates. as always for his mixtures of notes, memories, and wisdoms. roddy frame was one of those people who, when you looked at him, you thought a gust of wind would be enough to knock him down, yet you couldn’t easily pry him away from his little acoustic guitar and his attempts to make music. even today, it seems, he’s still there recording albums and doing concerts. back then, his records were quite a temptation, yet, for me, there was always something that seemed off... he too, in the end, was for me a "almost" unfulfilled promise. a greeting to the mrnobody quoting guy...

Laziness (the tyrannical monster of the sheets) kept me from reviewing the album. Not from listening to it, though, countless times. It’s a fact that this is the cd of the year (after all, it’s at the top of my top 10 in the forum). Can I say more? Yes, I can say it’s visceral music, songs that sound traditional but pulsate with new life (can there be anything better?). I can say that there’s something archaic and alive in "inspired" black music that almost always keeps me on edge. I can say that yesterday I bought "Winter in America" by Gil Scott Heron and Brian Jackson (a series of reissues of the two has been released) and I can’t do without it...

I understand. I can imagine the astonishment. I can imagine the temptation to say some exquisite curse. I can imagine the relentless wonder that has (only) left you speechless and held you back from invoking, with some deceit or the use of explicit adjectives, the divine presence. Who knows if they are also recounting that encounter, perhaps to a third friend, who unbeknownst to them has also passed by your side...

I thank Andrea for the hospitality and the insights offered. MrNobody, your hypothesis would be really difficult to manage; for some, the only way out would be, once blocked by the two with their elongated faces and wickedly smiling, to deny being themselves. Sure of not being so (truly) deep down...

Recently, I happened to see at a friend's house the photos of a wedding (what must we endure) that I regrettably didn't attend (thanks to some excuse or another) as I usually do. Among the guests, peeking from the remoteness of an armchair, in the esteemed status of an observer in hindsight, I spotted the face (and body) of a woman to whom I was truly attached... what a shock! One who had "dropped" me after taking me for a little ride on her splendid voluptuousness... I felt a bit of irritation, not sure if it was because I had been dropped prematurely, because I didn't go to this wedding, or just because there’s never a real way to do anything with time...

I almost forgot... I agree with Socrates' judgment (as you would expect...) on the latest from EW&F... but how is Maurice (the mind)?

Hey Mr. Nobody, there have never been so many, maybe it was the same one who was changing her outfit and hairstyle without me knowing... who knows... I've always been so distracted...
