AhAhAhAh what a tickle! The cover reminds me of when you have laser surgery for cataracts, what's so shocking about it? In Germany, similar images are shown on TV during dinner time...

This review finds me more in agreement than the previous one (by giov).
Sophia People Are Like Seasons

Not the best of Sophia, but still above average compared to everything else out there this season. So I don’t agree with you, Giov. In fact, it seems to me that you've reviewed this album without knowing the history of Proper-Sheppard, which is a heavy, difficult, introspective, "pe(n)sante" story. The fans of Sophia know what they’re in for and certainly don’t complain about it. I deduce then that you are not an early admirer and that this was your first encounter with Sophia; I can understand that. By the way, Proper-Sheppard (see God Machine) came before Nada Surf and Starsailor; it’s more that they resemble Proper-Sheppard, not the other way around. This is, after all, the most "positive" album by Sophia, and that’s precisely why I can’t appreciate it fully. I advise you against listening to their past works; you might be left feeling annihilated (if this feels heavy to you, then who knows how the others would react).
Type O Negative Slow, Deep And Hard

Well, I've always considered this album a work of pure and chilling "grindcore"... and Steele a fucking nihilist misogynist racist, no doubt about it! However, "Bloody Kisses" (the second album, if I'm not mistaken) isn't bad - it's very gothic - even though Steele's declared hatred/obsession towards women really bothers me.

Maybe it's true, Albini is an egocentric. But what's wrong with that? The problem is that often the figure of the sound engineer is put in the background, and we discuss records without considering the shadowy figure behind the console, while he is a fundamental part of the whole. There are sound engineers with character and those without. Albini has a particular and decisive style, a total disillusionment with the music business, and a very strong personality. In the end, it's characters like him who have marked the course of modern music. Brian Eno, here's another one who had the final say on the master. Among the "emerging" ones, I would mention Chris Goss and Nigel Godrich... by the way, about Probot, who’s doing the review? You do it Seth, come on.... :))

Possible, possible... there’s a record out there called "Pranzo Oltranzista," by Patton in collaboration with Zorn and Marc Ribot, a supernoise avant-jazz thing. Stuff for strong ears! ...c'mon... have you heard it? I haven't... For Frantz: even Mr. Bungle isn’t bad if you liked Faith No More...
