easy.... I agree, but not on anything Sonic Youth, nothing Fugazi.... if there’s another key reference point of the counterculture etc. etc., it’s definitely Fugazi, the band that unleashed the suburban counterculture, the American hinterland (which is different from the metropolitan one of NY, represented by SY). At least that’s how I’ve always seen it... the New York scene on one side, the Washington scene on the other. SY represented innovation, Fugazi represented resistance.

As always, an impeccable review. Regarding the alcoholic version of What A Wonderful World: I agree with Hal. WAWW is a sunny and positive song. Turning this piece into a tavern song (I exaggerate, but it's to make a point), resigned and dragging, is almost sacrilegious, but we know that Cave is like this, caught between damnation and blessing, so we forgive him because we love him. No one is perfect, not even Cave. --- These operations always leave me puzzled. The famous b-sides. They’re like grandma's sweaters made from leftover yarn. They seem like a concession, just giving something for the sake of giving. In this case, it’s enjoyable; Nick Cave is always a splendid wolf, but I believe that an album should tell a complete story. It should reflect on the choice of songs and their sequence. There should be a sound work that makes the whole thing a complete piece (not homogeneous, mind you). There should be logical continuity. I hate randomness, and these compilations feel like random 'suggestions' from the author. So if it’s just for commercial purposes, I’d prefer compilations of others' songs chosen by the artist in question. Like the CDs your friend makes with his favorite tracks. It feels like a much friendlier gesture. I would love to hear the selection Cave would make... what artists do you think he would choose? Do you think he would include Waits (I think so...)... who else? (Just to change the subject, huh?) :))

:))))) envy always gives 1 (the famous "ghost" vote) ;) I’ve never been able to watch this movie until the end, there’s something that bothers me about Tom Cruise, I don’t know, it seems forced...

I know them too, Cin, and I agree with everything you say, 100%! Great people who don’t act superior. But unfortunately - as I already said here in the past - they were born in the wrong country. Kisses.

... more than pouty, I would define her as a little sulky, with that sexy sulk, typiquement française, the kind that drives lost men crazy...

I have to take it out. I got it in Zurich two years ago because I had read good things about it and I really liked the cover; it inspired me a lot. But listening to it in the car on the way back, I don't know, it just didn't convince me, and I told my guy... and my guy said, "See, money wasted!" and then we argued... in short, I immediately hated this album. What do you think, should I give it another chance? :))
