Beautiful album El Guevo, I was about to write a review too :)) but now there’s this one which is perfect! At first, the CD threw me off a bit, but now I listen to it at least once a day. It risks becoming one of my albums of the year. For sure, Darlinghurst Nights is one of the songs of the year for me: "Gut rot cappuccino, gut rot spaghetti/gut rot rock'n'roll through the eyes of Frank Brunetti/ and always the traffic, always the lights/ Joe played the cello through those/ Darlighurst Nights...". Poetry! There are stunning photographs here. It’s an album with that dark-australian-brit touch that I absolutely love :)

a very valuable piece of advice this is, just like Effe's.

x nanog@zzolo: it's strange though that with this "preview" we're only talking about the preview itself and not the album, considering that the majority of those who commented haven't heard it yet... I could do it because I have the complete album (now these superstars send promos to the press on vinyl). But what joy would I get? I also have the new White Stripes (for two weeks now), and others too. But what joy would I have in sharing them with the friends on debaser? where would the SHARING (or the non-sharing) of opinions be? well, tell me if I'm wrong to think this way...

ps/ quertzy totally agree on the sound! In this sense, a fantastic job. The site, a bit less. I went to check out the booklet... mmmm someone should tell Reznor not to trust the "creatives" too much... black on white never works well either on screen or on paper. It really needs a printer with guts, ugh. But then, what’s the point? The graphics are so elaborate, it’s impossible to understand anything... wait a minute: I’d almost say the graphic touch is similar to that of the booklet of the latest Icarus Line Cd, beautiful but... same "mess," you can't read a damn thing... while the image of Trent inside the Cd I really like.

"something truly innovative and disruptive"... Frantz, I've already resigned myself. There will never be anything disruptive and innovative again. The swan song was grunge and nirvanism. Do you realize? It's over. In this era of downloads and iPods and ringtones and ad jingles, how can music still shock the audience? The expectations of young people have changed, and it's a different consumption. So let's try to find oases, like the one you proposed (Eels). Those are all we've got left :))

by the way, the new guitarist is one of the two guitarists from Icarus Line, namely the best guitars of 2004 (imho)…

I'm not convinced either, but, knowing myself, it's possible that in a year I'll come to like it, due to some alchemy with some emotion of mine at that moment. The review is smooth and thorough.

Hi Foschi!!!! :)) Nick, you know I can't stand reviews made before albums are released. I don't care if they're already online; the sound online isn't faithful! Coldplay don’t blow me away, but I don’t dislike them either. I'm not dying to hear them, but I’m sure I'll find something good. Chris Martin, whatever people say, knows how to write some great songs. Just like Anthony, by the way. One more thing, since you’ve been writing so few lately, why don’t you give us a nice review recommending something really good, something that makes us eager? Lately, you guys have been sticking to these scathing previews, what a drag, huh? From you, Nick, this is, for me, a little letdown...
