Good job, Caz, it had to be done. During the disaster, my emotions went from infinite sadness, then confusion, and then anger. Anger towards an incompetent and racist government, anger towards those who took advantage (on both sides). Immense respect and compassion for the innocent victims, total shock at how shamelessly violent the "guilty" victims have been, killing and raping without restraint. This hurricane has uncovered the cauldron of America, showing how much hatred simmers there, how much virulence, how much repressed vengeance, how fragile its immune system is, how fatal and terrible the law of self-defense and individualism can be... I can’t write everything in one post; I also wanted to do a review, but I couldn't find a foothold. You did well to talk about Fats (what a great man!) because he is now the memory (he always was, but now more than ever), and as long as there are men like him, New Orleans will never disappear (and here I also extend a thought to St. Louis and the other affected areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama). --- One of my cult films is called "The Jazz City." It's a film from the forties, in black and white, starring Armstrong, Billie, and all those artists who made history in this city. It's a beautiful movie, and it tells the story of jazz and blues, etc. If I knew how (it’s a VHS recorded from TV), I would make you a copy.
