Hi Torre! What I can tell you is that the most recognized bands in France are AS DRAGON (currently my favorites), LES BERURIERS NOIR, TÊTES RAIDES, and INDOCHINE (the latter have some great reviews on debaser). Among the emerging acts, there are NO ONE IS INNOCENT (a hefty crossover like Urban Dance Squad) and MASNADA (metal-core). On the electronic side (aside from the usual Air, etc.), noteworthy are LE PEUPLE DE L'HERBE, quite interesting. Singer-songwriters I like include SAEZ and BENJAMIN BIOLAY. In hip hop, absolutely worth mentioning are I AM, big giants, and the magnificent MC SOLAAR, right? :D I won't even get into rock mixed genres, bands in the style of Mano Negra, I could go on forever since there are so many. Meanwhile, those that could be called the descendants of Noir Désir are DEPORTIVO, really good, I like them. I'll break a lance for the (Swiss) French THE YOUNG GODS, but there's no need for comments here, right Trell? :DD The French rock scene is extremely active, more so than the Italian one (not to mention the Swiss one, sigh), but there's a reason for that: there's a law in France that subsidizes those who sing in French (indeed, there are very few bands that sing in English), so there is money available for those starting out, which not only helps emerging bands but also creates healthy and fierce competition, where only quality wins, ideally suited for international comparison, as has often been proven. It's a nice surprise, like the first roasted chestnuts of early autumn, that warm and comfort... thank you Hal for proposing it. I'll tell you, if you didn't do it or Enk, I would have done it myself :D This man is a very intriguing person. I admire these characters, discreet yet extremely active; they do their thing without much fuss and sentimentalism. Plus, he's a 'catalyst' man, who stays in the shadows but is absolutely essential for channeling other people's creativity. In his distant past, let's not forget Crime & The Solution...
