first a pack horse, then yes, in the end a tribal chief. I really liked the meticulous reconstruction of the daily life of the Sioux in that film; in that sense, it grabbed me more than Dances with Wolves (which, I reiterate, for other reasons makes me go crazy...) where the Sioux are also portrayed...

Dances with Wolves is beyond discussion, a great film that always makes me cry like a fountain :) However, let's not forget A Man Called Horse, with Richard Harris, in my opinion the best film ever about a white man who "becomes" a Native American (they even made two sequels, but they're dispensable, The Return of a Man Called Horse and The Revenge of a Man Called Horse).

five just for the chosen pearl! And how can we not mention (and recommend) Cora & The Ex, namely Scrabbling at the Lock and And the Weathermen Shrug Their Shoulders, two records that are never talked about, but that were seminal in the experimental noise to come. I had the vinyl of the first, I lent it out, never saw it again, and even today I regret it. As for The Ex, Aural Guerrilla and Joggers and Smoggers are absolutely to be discovered... other gems of the European experimental indie scene from the 80s-90s. In short, great page!
