Enbar was supposed to be in Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan and Israel, who knows when I will ever be able to! As for Middle Eastern poetry, I think it is one of the few ways to gain a cross-sectional view of the mentality in the Middle East. Through poetry, humanity, spirituality, passion, rebellion, and truth come through, in short. Even regarding women. As for the writers you mention, I don't know the first one, the second I’ve heard of but have never read. Serbian and Egyptian. Are they your favorites? I've only read Gibran’s poetry, and of course The Prophet, then Hikmet, passion.

Beautiful review, Enbar. This kind of film is shown on Swiss channels, or French ones, or Arte late at night—heaven forbid I ever manage to catch it. I recently read a definition that Lebanese people give to their country: “with three hundred different types of cheese and three hundred different kinds of opinion.” Lebanon used to be a bit like Switzerland, a land of passage and high-class whore. It’s a country I’ve always wanted to visit, but unfortunately. For the review and for a trip I will probably never take, I’ll leave you with a verse from a great Lebanese poet: "The storm is capable of dispersing the flowers, but it cannot harm the seeds." (Kahlil Gibran)
