THE REVIEW

"The Perfect Prescription is a record that rock'n'roll readers will overlook, just as the sacred texts say of Bo Diddley throwing his cloak to the ground to make way for Eddie Cochran's military march.

If you're looking for a classic that has never had a fanfare, here it is. An arcane apocryphal document, this record, that in the late 80s in England, was like telegraphing a message of defiant confidence to a world hypnotized by a welfare rock with the torment of guilt. Here, more than ever, Spacemen 3 have a serious interest in absolutely nothing.

This record is revolutionary and militant where most angry rock is at best liberal. It's extreme and precise. Like "Aftermath" it captures every aspect of the next generation destined to end up in therapy. Unpretentious like the soundtrack of a country crumbling in a world falling apart, its nature is to be ignored.

Spacemen 3, like all great rock, from Arthur Parker to Paul Gauguin, are revolutionaries: this is their great manifesto, away after the pharmaceutical raid of the debut, with the keys to the medicine cabinet in hand.Once they set off, things will never be the same. But beyond that locked door, well, it will be like the "white" in the story.

If Sound of Confusion prevented a greater nervous relaxation for something immediately, brutally sensual, this writing is like gold, transformed by any suburban Viet-Vet subculture of the global village, into a poppy field scattered with sacred paranoia. While still the smell of burning rubber on Yankee-trash wheels thickens the air.

What's happening? I have the answer, if you want it
