"When I hear certain news from Iran today, etc...". Oh yeah! And what about the explosion in Chernobyl? Didn't we all freak out, saying "yet the wind still blows," but absolutely it would have been better if it didn't? And today, instead, they're flipping out about 2012?

(ps, great review, you did really well to bring up this film, which was actually a TV movie; I actually saw it on TV)

I was around twenty when it came out, and perhaps I was slightly more psychologically prepared than you Italians, because for us Swiss, the threat of a nuclear war was taken terribly seriously. It translated into safety bunkers in every home (they're still built that way today), regular training for men in civil service in case of conflict (including my father), and long-lasting food and medical supplies stored at home. Since my father was trained in this regard, he didn't miss the chance to train us daughters. To this day, certain instructions are ingrained in my mind; these are things you don’t forget. I remember perfectly the list of supplies that every family was supposed to have in their pantry—a government-issued, official list taped with Scotch to the door of the pantry... We've always been accused of arrogance for this, we Swiss, with our bunkers... a very timely film, any day could turn into The Day After... in short, I grew up this way, aware.

Ah, there I posted without seeing your 76, so we agree then. Enjoy your meal (to be honest, I’ve lost my appetite, but whatever). I'm going to roast a cat's thigh!

Alex, you’re jumping from one thing to another, nobody holds it against you "personally," it's a matter of the weight given to comment number 1: for many it is sharp and historically significant, for others it’s just "a (vulgar) piss against the wall" (cit. Geeno). This is the issue, and not whether she is ambitious or not (and on this topic, Giola explains it very well with comment no. 74!) You can’t seem to see the difference (and you were so close... just a little bit). But enough now. Have a good day everyone!

Yes, "climber" would have been more acceptable!! Words are important! Those who speak poorly, think poorly and live poorly! For goodness' sake!

Giola, I got interested; this review really gave me a stimulating insight, and I'm digging deeper into the photographer. I also really liked the link that Sellami posted, a beautiful, striking image. Thank you!

It’s useless! S4Doll addressing me is like shooting at the Red Cross (or White, it’s up to you), talk to Azzo or Geeno or Telespallabob, then let’s see what they say… It drives me crazy to come here on Debaser, open any review, and read nonsense about women, regardless of whether they’re caricatures or not! Even worse if it’s a beautiful page for which the reviewer put in effort. Giola in the comment above explains exactly the concept and feeling we (very few) "girls" experience! And it’s childish to believe that responding in the same way can soothe this feeling of dismal and degrading bleakness! I’m 46, not 15!

Look, but for my part (I'm speaking for myself) there's a sort of exasperation, Azzo is right, here on Deb, basically only Patti Smith (because she's a scorfano), Pj Harvey (certainly not a sexy bomb), and a few other female singer-songwriters are getting by. Just take a look at the newly published review of Lacuna Coil: we went from the porn Scabbia to the Pausini with the wedding dress butt, and ended up with the Clerici, a decent mountaineer... very few are saved, nothing against Lord, him like many others, but this is not just about being nice (cit. Cappio) but pure and simple exasperation... bye, good night!
