This film started off badly; before Bird began shooting it, someone else had taken it on but dropped it after a short time. Carlyle insisted on having Bird finish it, as she is a friend of his with whom he had already worked. So it's not a film conceived by Bird. I watched it too, but on DVD in German (I adore Carlyle), and among the extras, it’s mentioned that it's inspired by a true story of cannibalism that occurred in the old west (http://television-today.blogspot.com/2010/02/where-is-donner-party-facts-from.html). However, they cut some scenes on the DVD, the most gruesome ones... I wonder, did Italia 1 air the uncut version? By the way, the music: Nyman and Damon Albarn. As for "Il Prete," I haven't seen it; I think I'll look for it.

I have my doubts too, Fede (forgive my pedantry, but I am against the extinction of the subjunctive...) "does he/she believe it was written?" or "does he/she believe it is written?" ...
