Francesco De Gregori Pezzi
Voto:
I can't do it. Every time I try to listen to the modern De Gregori, the one after Donna Cannone, with which I believe Francesco breathed a splendid swan song, I can no longer find that enchanting minstrel of the '70s, so intense and free of that malicious vocal register he can no longer do without today.
Lucio Battisti Cosa Succederà Alla Ragazza
Voto:
C.S.A.R. is a masterpiece, even though it must be acknowledged that this album is certainly one of the less immediate ones from the latest Battisti. In the empyrean "However, the Rhinoceros," along with the meticulous "I Sachi della POsta" and "La Metro Eccetera," the rap in "Ecco i Negozi" is fantastic. As for the interpretation of the album that I don't agree with ("a day lived by a female character from morning to evening"): in my opinion, this album, more than Panella's others, should be captured simply through images, trying to grasp themes related to the images themselves, without daring to make assumptions that may be correct, but that probably no one could ever justify.

Come on... you too, a review of Don Giovanni! Recently, there has been a boom on Debaser regarding Lucio, especially the modern one, and I'm glad to see so many fans discussing it. It's true what you say, it seems like an unfinished album, and I was wondering if the unreleased track "Gabbianone," mysteriously discarded by Battisti, belongs to this album... does anyone know? It still belongs to the early years of collaboration with Panella.
Ludovico Einaudi I Giorni

Finally a review of Einaudi! In my opinion, it's a dud, good for advertising jingles. For far more haunting minimalism, Michelangelo Nyman.

Oh, buddy, it seems that the cover was created by Battisti and Mogol, who asked some patrons of an unspecified bar in the province of Como to pose for it; the commonly held theories are: 1) The reference to the cover of "Amore e non Amore," where the main themes were nature and nudity, highlighting the serenity of these two subjects; 2) The attempt, more or less related to "Amore e non Amore," to scandalize; 3) Battisti's desire to emphasize, through a kitsch image, different from the clear representation of the '70 album, how the image of nature can be questioned through a culture of vulgarized and subliminal imagery represented by the artificial ornaments of the subjects. In my opinion, the last two theories should be combined: an attempt to scandalize and a denunciation of the devaluation of nature. After all, songs like "La Canzone della Terra," "...E' Un Canto Brasileiro" only talk about nature and contrast with the culture of advertising.
Lucio Battisti Anima Latina
Voto:
"And already" is a bit trivial and lacks the magnificent orchestral quality of certain Battisti masterpieces. So by putting together ordinary words and ordinary music, I end up with a decently mediocre LP. I recently wrote a review where I mention "E Già," and I hope they publish it soon ;o/
Lucio Battisti Anima Latina

Opinions. I consider "Anima latina" the masterpiece, but not the last gasp before "Don Giovanni." Of high quality is, just to name one, "Una donna per Amico" from '78, imbued with jazz and blues sounds ("Prendila così," "Nessun Dolore," etc.). "E già" is a half disaster.
