But do you even know Runga? What a disgrace this is! The day will come when I’ll review someone you don’t know! You can be sure of that, we’re just getting started :)

Alright, alright, as soon as this crazy week of various messes is over, I’ll write the review on Pollution... give me some time :)

Lately, this review has been attracting unexpected attention. Dear Claudio, or whoever is representing you, it was just a caricature; the "critique" was more of a commentary on a music culture that wants the focus to be on uncontrolled chaos in a tunz tunz style. For the rest, some comments should be taken in the spirit of the light-heartedness that a nonsensical review can provoke.

Groups? Well, let's put it this way: metal, grunge, hard rock, prog, punk, and the like disgust me; I simply stay updated on the genres... I like everything else, read some of my reviews :)

As a debut, it's good... I haven't listened to the album nor do I think I ever will, for my personal taste, due to that impression of pure technicalism-mental wankery you refer to in your review: you are probably right that this CD strays from others, but you can't deny that through the review you create the impression of explaining everything in terms of that very technicalism: a somewhat overly encyclopedic listing of various prog, thrash, classic prog influences without the exegesis of the sensations that such listening can evoke in you... in fact, when something appears that could evoke a certain emotional engagement, you refer to it as "sentimentality"...

Pollution is booked, in fact, I'll write a proper review, since here I've only included the back cover for informational purposes, because I think it's the most explanatory of a Battiato beat that expressed itself through protest themes like this one. "Up Patriots to Arms" is the standout track, but the whole album, with true Battiato memory places like "Passaggi a Livello," "Arabian Song," and "Venezia-Istanbul," is a small snapshot of the pre-life of the Sicilian singer-songwriter. From the golden period of the first half of the '80s.
