Ah, um, regarding the album, I’m curious... I'm looking forward to hearing it, hopeful yet at the same time doubtful because it follows "Melody A.M."... to trust Nick or Giubbo?

Yes, I'm also curious about the cat. I have 11 of them, and here at home, not one of them gets washed... every now and then I shake one to make some fleas bounce off, but they basically remain filthy... the problem is that they rebel. Caz, they sell specific shampoos for cats, stuff to handle with gloves, especially because while you're soaking them in water, the little kitty scratches you to death in 99% of cases. And my cats get sterilized halfway through pregnancy; we're not foolish, there's still one that's a bit of a fool, but fortunately, it seems to be asexual, so maybe we'll let that slide.

Anyway, I don't want to tease you too much, you can send me a message calmly whenever you want. I almost forgot: there is something similar to jazz that I like. The blends between classical and jazz in the style of Gershwin and Whiteman. Cheers!

Thank you! :) It’s curious how, in jazz, I have never really found much in terms of personal involvement: aside from the true traditional "jazzists" like Ellington, Getz, Monk, Stobart, Krall, etc. who don’t attract me and I don’t think they ever will by definition, I see no points of contact even with virtuosos who tried to propose jazz in a more modern key like Davis, Zappa, and Pastorius... I always see it as a melting pot of musical impressions where technicality often reigns supreme, a fascinating zibaldone of complex and intricate sounds that doesn’t convey much to me, particularly it doesn’t convey tension, which is what I like to seek in music. Of course, these are personal feelings, impressions that correspond to my tastes (sure, now anyone can tell me: "And who said that music is tension? I like Rossini, Donizetti, and Mozart!" And indeed, nobody has established that, but I like it this way :D) it doesn’t diminish the greatness of Davis, Metheny, and Cobham; I would like something more participatory, something that has less of a sense of digression: you see, I really liked what you wrote in the review: "when the concert ends amidst applause, you feel light and not tired"; there, the sensations of lightness, of hypnosis, trance, with which you want to convey your impression of "ecstatic calm" (can I call it that?), strengthen my thesis that one generally does not feel pathos or rupture. Well, obviously now you will contradict me by citing who knows who or what... well, I’m happy to hear what you’ll suggest, I’m waiting for messiahs to convert me! :)
Lucio Dalla Com'è profondo il mare

Indeed, it didn’t become a classic precisely because it was overshadowed by "Attenti al Lupo" and "Apriti Cuore," which, by the way, are not as trivial as one might think. Ah, I mention—and you'll remember—the curious "Comunista" at the end of the album, a track discarded from the '70s collaboration with Roversi... of quality, like the rest of the work, enriched by a well-crafted brass section, with "Le Rondini" and "Bella" standing out. The latter is one of the most bittersweet pieces of Dalla's "mature" phase: it seems to encapsulate all the bitterness of "Quale Allegria," "Mambo," "L' Anno che Verrà"... although from this perspective, I believe the deepest stab Dalla delivered in his production was with "Milano"... but those are other stories; just wait until we see the review of "Lucio Dalla" here on Deb, and we can talk more about it :)

As I have often written, jazz and similar genres don't really appeal to me, but I believe that one day someone will manage to convert me :)

Thank you guys... Trell, you make me blush :) Yes, all the CT covers up to '90 are the work of 23-Evenlope by Grierson and Vaughan, indeed: really evocative, they always capture in the cover what the music will suggest during the listening: just think of the gloomy landscape of Head Over Heels and the crystals of Treasure...
