Oh, how wonderful. Finally, the lyric on Debaser returns through a sincere and deserved tribute. Given the apparent age of your username, you are clearly a young enthusiast. I would add to your careful and straightforward analysis a mention of the Chorus of Bells, which possesses beauty and innovation equal to the silent chorus of the Butterfly. Just one note, which does not undermine the appreciation of your examination: "Cavalleria Rusticana" is a novella, not a tragedy, by Verga. The photo in your commentator profile is beautiful; perhaps next time you could draw inspiration for a review from there as well :)

Ladies and gentlemen gathered here! I reserve the right to provide necessary clarifications. @ Jim: beware of the mythical allusive technique! That image is not mine, but belongs to Lucretius, in the invocation to Venus from de Rerum Natura, book I, vv.32-34; @ Fest: the Chilean perspective is a marvel! And allusions aside, that's my stuff! :D; @ Hal: and listen to the samples, right? Don’t be your usual picky self! @ Geenoo, Surf, Zaione: yes, yes, it’s a bit of snobbery! :) And this is not B league, let’s say this is the league, while on the left is the Champions! @ everyone else: thanks a lot (Qzè, what a laugh ;D), obviously with particular reference to the lazy advisor.

Uhm, yes, I’ve been harsh. If anything, I’ll reformulate my judgment, which I still hold. As for the vocal extensions, we are on the same page, but from the perspective of timbre, I don’t find it eclectic at all. That shrill and metallic voice, while easily ranging from high notes to low ones, remains the same, in my opinion, in timbre. And in my opinion, it’s also unpleasant, but that’s really a matter of taste. Take Sinead O’Connor: from falsetto to whispering, they are two different worlds. Two different voices. Thomas can joke in falsetto and grunt with the same shrill voice.

Very interesting, especially if it doesn't distance itself too much from cLOUD.

Once I asked if they had "We Need New Animals" to the guy at Rough Trade in London, and I had to spell DAAU three times just to hear that they didn’t know a thing about it. This just goes to show how import it is :) A 5 for the girl at broken.

Oh, Luky, it's perfect harmony. First of all, thanks to Trell, and secondly, what an incredible coincidence, when I think of groups that deserve to be elevated by female voices, I also think of Massive Attack, and I even mentioned it in a review of Mezzanine here on Debaser: Fraser and Jay had given that album a whole new depth. It’s deep symbiosis, then! Another 5 to health, and soon I will also seek out the second to last one.

...So yes, the rating isn't top-notch. For the review, it is, since it's the best of the Trelles production. Although "Lost Soles," with its fading ending, is the piece I like the most... ;)

These Belgian musicians are really good and lively: I've listened to a couple of albums besides this one (Lukin exemplified!). The chamber music setup with the clarinet in the forefront and the strings in support is fantastic. However, there’s a but: it is precisely this consistency in the musical mechanisms, once the more electronic aspirations are set aside, that I find exhausting in the long run. To say it differently: in this latest episode, the perseverance in the instrumental without voice (not a song, as Trell pointed out) is extreme. It is because in several cases (see Disponitioning and especially Lounja) the role of the clarinet could be perfectly filled by a lovely female voice like that of the enchanting lady in "Broken" (see Luko's review) or the sensual chanteuse in "Piano Dub" (Life Transmission); instead, there’s a blind insistence on the instrumental at all costs that, in my opinion, ultimately doesn't pay off.

Vic, don't be a coward: I wouldn't listen to this stuff even if they threatened me with a Molotov cocktail, but the review is amusing, come on. Just for the idea of the search engine. The rest is in the tone of a loader, fitting for the topic :)

I’ll go out on a limb: this is one of the greatest pieces of modern electronics. Chapeau.
