Damn, the other review was so much better!
Edoardo Bennato La Torre Di Babele

Wow, Bennato is back! And woe to those who criticize! A passionate tribute to one of the best albums by the Neapolitan artist. Regarding the question of "Bennato's commitment/disengagement," I fully agree with Fusillo: it's excessive to seek a realistic motivation for every piece. "But who is he," Bennato confessed himself, was just a simple divertissement thrown together to honor his dialect (he has often been criticized for being a Neapolitan who doesn’t sing in Neapolitan), "Cantautore" is a simple vademecum on the issues related to his profession (the role of poet-seer, economics, idolatry), while "Fandango" is a little scene à la "Tu Vuoi l'America" where the central role is taken by the mythologizing of the ephemeral. I agree, the bitter "Venderò" and the already complexly analyzed "Franz è il mio nome" are little masterpieces.

never, zurk!! I don't go to Catania. Rather, if you come back this way, I have to take you, if you haven't been there, to the legendary "Divino Rosso," a place now set up as a restaurant but previously a brothel. The decor has remained similar, the paintings, the color of the walls (mandatory red). A cozy little spot, a meeting place for both gay and straight couples with a chic food fetish.

Zurko, I didn't think you were a frequenter of brothels. Look at the discoveries on debbaser.

But come on, there was this girl in Palermo and I missed her? I have a genuine, instinctive dislike for her. It infuriates me the image of an alternative free-spirited girl associated with the inevitable one of a spoiled rich kid (and what a dad, another charming guy who boasts about who knows what kind of participation in cinematic masterpieces) with connections: the famous "children of the arts" like Mezzogiorno, De Sica (Christian and, listen up, Brando!) and Placido, indeed. What a thing.

Come on, the idea that "Italians are good people" is obviously a cliché borrowed for the conversation, I didn't use it as a catchphrase to win over the audience; I just wanted to summarize in a well-known phrase the theory that there is a good culture of tolerance in Italy. Anyway, a truly absurd case is unfolding regarding terminology issues. Silvio used to say: it's always these communists. They're always spinning tales, and it was them who wanted Milan in B.

Ihih, however, I really like your comment, cazzyno, I see a lot of truth in it, but I won’t go further or we’ll need censorship. To my metal friend, I say: I don’t agree. I live in the deep south and I have seen plenty of landings of undocumented immigrants, and I’ve seen them up close. And here in Sicily, the reaction is anything but hostile. Quite the opposite. I wonder if in the countries where you’ve been and where you live, they would meet immigrants with 32-tooth smiles. I don’t know. Then again, who knows, I’m not well-acquainted with the situation, I’ve traveled a lot less than you, and you have better knowledge regarding abroad. But when it comes to Italy, excuse me, I believe I can share my thoughts. Especially since I am much more of a terrone than you and I know immigration well and understand the level of tolerance. We may not be the best, the kindest, but overall we are a people of generous souls. Then feel free to think as you wish. You’ve traveled and know other nations better: I don’t have certainties about those. But about Italy, I believe I do.

Do we do it better? Nah. In my opinion, it's just plain nonsense. Whoever's got it better does it.
