Iron Maiden Dance of Death

Cliff is right when he says that the Irons are big fans of Jethro Tull and Celtic folk, and especially Bruce Dickinson has stated multiple times that it was his intention to push the band's sound towards these green horizons (whether this was one of the reasons for his departure from the band some years ago we’ll set aside). If they succeeded, I don’t know... what is true is that in this and in the previous work, there are some traces of this ā€œturnā€ (which I find exaggerated, so I’ll put it in quotation marks)... but the elements of continuity continue to prevail. Maybe I won’t listen to it as much as I used to with the old works, but hearing a solo from the old Dave Murray is always a pleasure.

iko... stop doing the following things:
1) taking amphetamines after meals.
2) going to catechism.

The review is well written, and to welcome Max just because one does not appreciate the vocal/musical style of Consoli seems like an excess of malice. Be more objective! (anyway... the singer has repeatedly shown to be an inspired and energetic author, and above all honest... not trying to pass herself off as a champion of rock just to attract an audience)

Well, whether to listen to metal or not is not really a philosophical choice; I listen to it and I listen to other things as well. Honestly, I don’t care much about those who criticize a genre in the abstract. Your reviews of metal albums (I don’t count this one, you only say a couple of words) are well done and I don’t see them as out of place on de-baser at all.

Nice review, it really makes you want to listen. Coxon has never inspired me with much sympathy, but if he made an album with the style you describe and with such a beautiful cover (I have a soft spot for seventies graphics), maybe I've judged him too harshly.

Sallu, I didn't mean to say that various Radiohead, Muse, Sigur Ros (without the E), and The Strokes are crap just because they are new; in fact, many of my absolute favorite bands are recent... it's just that an "old" band that has set the standard in rock shouldn't be discriminated against just because "it's stuff I listened to when I was a clueless and inexperienced teenager." I don't like putting icons of rock on pedestals, but in my opinion, the thanks given by wwwhatemoornet to the irons are totally deserved.

well done, let's throw away the maiden (or airon meiden as the pseudo-bassist says)... they are old, who cares if they were the first to take those three chords and create what we now call heavy metal, let's get rid of the old, room for the young, nursing homes are meant for this, right?, and let's throw in Bowie (and Mr. Iko commits suicide), Black Sabbath, Kiss, and the Rolling Stones... room for the young... like, for example, the ... uh... yeah, those with the strange name... yeah, those from the cool video... damn, I can't remember the name... those guys, you get the idea.

X Livio: if Mr. Pippo wrote on de-baser he would give points to everyone :D.
X Mr.Iko: just mention Ziggy Stardust! I love that album but if you keep building shrines to it in every review I’m going to start hating it! (just kidding... anyway, take a break from the Duke for a couple of months :) )

Nice response to Iko, who should try not to snub everything outright, and what to say, the irons are the irons and your thanks could be joined by others, but the irons are fine just as they are... true to themselves, without forcing things or excessive experimentation they've left a significant mark in the history of rock, and despite the last albums being a bit lukewarm... they remain one of the best live bands around... up the irons!

Livio, what can I say... I'm not a jazz enthusiast, but this review managed to make me want to listen to this album... so it deserves a full 5. A site like this serves to promote good music from any genre, no matter how unknown or hard-to-find an artist or a CD may be; there is someone talking about it just for the "passion of doing it." Commenting on a review (positively or otherwise) is the way to say "we are working together to continue expressing this passion of ours." Yet, few have written here... why is that?
