Dire Straits Dire Straits

I don't arrive late to reviews because I don't read them. I read them all, but then I take some time to comment on them. After all, as I've mentioned in other comments, I discovered them when I was young.
Let's start with one of the two overlooked tracks: "six blade knife." Just the title alone can suggest something: does it refer to his own guitar? In my opinion, along with its sister "Southbound again" (sister not in resemblance), these are the songs that encapsulate the style, essence, and essential nature of the early Dire Straits. After all, even skimming through the list of CDs and various tracks, one cannot say they have diminished: from essential to pompous to essential again, but only because the financial means had increased. The CD is remarkable. Everything about it. Because debuting like this is in itself incredible; after all, beginning with "Sultans Of Swing" is something no one else does. Because "Sultans of Swing" is such an intelligent song (can it be defined as intelligent?) that it anticipated a decade of music or perhaps best synthesized the previous 20 years (in rock-blues terms). For this reason, I don't consider it the essence of the CD. It's out of time, beyond any consideration.
Sure, I'm a fan.
Let's say that Knopfler here created something unique, not only because ... beautiful but also, and above all, because no one has ever approached thinking of something similar, musically speaking. Dire Straits remain a musical unicum for all that they were: never above the lines and always extraordinarily out of the ordinary.
One last thing: Claudio, have you listened to Cale? Try "Lies" and compare it to "Setting Me Up" and especially to "Southbound Again."

Max...Rediscovered after years...It was one of the lullabies from my childhood. An explosion of emotions. Fantastic...

There are two or three Straits songs where Cale's influence is extraordinarily visible: Southbound Again (or also Setting Me Up) and Follow Me Home. Compare them, if you don’t believe me, with Sensitive Kind and Lies... As for the rest, a pleasant review... I will find out about the CD..

I'm almost in agreement... Almost because the album has its merits... But like you, I've always wondered why... why a song like "Cocaine" was so lauded. One... it's a cover... nice sure, but JJ Cale's version already stands strong on its own. The same goes for "Wonderful Tonight": you need to be in a good mood not to get tired of it and make it to the end... If it were shorter maybe... (I admit though, with a girl by your side it always has its charm). Generally speaking, it's a three-star album. Nothing exceptional. Nice... and listenable from time to time. But he... has done much better.

Reason about the brush... But it hit me... and so I went into ecstasy. As for Waters, I assume he's a good support. A friend went to Waters' concert and said that the only one who hadn't really impressed him was White. Then, however, I made him listen to Midnight Blues... and he changed his mind.

Here... at this point, I would like to know your idea of pop... I mean: if it’s dead... at some point it must have been alive. I repeat: I’m not defending Ferro or the genre; it’s just annoying to see a certain a priori superficiality.

What a pain, guys. The reviewer doesn’t deserve this. The grammatical mistake is from speaking, come on... for the rest, you can’t vote 1 for the reviewer just because you hate the album (who among you has even listened to it?). It’s pointless. That said, I find the single just released to be dull. In general, guys, try to judge the artist within their context. Pop isn’t crap by default, and not all pop artists suck. I don’t want to doubt your judgments or opinions, but in this case, you seem a bit superficial. It’s not crap. There are things you won’t like, and in its somewhat limited originality, it’s perfectly fine because, regardless of what’s said, it’s currently one of the best in its genre. Can you believe I have to defend Ferro?! To the reviewer: 3 is the maximum because some mistakes are unacceptable.
