Regarding the talk on side-projects, I agree; at Anticon, everyone collaborates with everyone, making it difficult to establish original formations and parallel projects. In any case, I didn't use the term in a derogatory sense; on the contrary, often it's precisely from side-projects that the best works emerge, and Subtle and Themselves are proof of that. Bye :-)

Not only cLOUDDEAD, but also "Bottle Of Humans" by Sole, "Man Overboard" and "Square" by Buck 65, "Seed To Sun" by Boom Bip, the magnificent "The Other Side Of The Looking Glass" by Alias (highly recommended), "10 Seconds" by Jel, "The Psyche-Intangible" by Sixtoo, "Personal Journals" by Sage Francis, and the compilation "Music For The Advancement Of Hip-Hop," primarily. From 2003 onwards, I noticed a bit of the flaw (or virtue, depending on the point of view) that I mentioned earlier, that excessive Indie lightness which gradually overshadowed the greater concreteness of their early work. Make it clear that this is not a bad thing at all; perhaps it's a clever move to extend their fan base even among Indie lovers who listen to Pavement, Smog, and the like. It's a respectable musical choice that, however, distances itself from my preferences, that's all ;-)

But I certainly don't doubt the value of CCCP and the lyrical depth of Ferretti; on the contrary, I acknowledge it. Unfortunately, I have a completely different conception of music that doesn't quite suit their listening, I’ve even tried, but alas, with poor results. To tell you, just seeing the cover of "Affinità-Divergenze..." is enough for me to steer clear (but not for political or flag-waving reasons, quite the opposite!). Regards :-)

To me, their early releases never really impressed me all that much, too closely tied to the style of the CCCP, which I also struggle to digest. With "Stard'Ust," they made a clear shift towards Trip-Hop and D'n'B sounds typical of that period, indeed chasing the trends of the moment, but softening their sound and making it more refined and accessible to those who can hardly tolerate the atmospheres and mental masturbation of Ferretti. I clearly fall into that category ;-)

Yeah, it was recommended to me precisely for its strong electronic component compared to "Advantage," which didn't particularly impress me. I will listen to it, also encouraged by your great review ;-)

Great Meshell Ndegèocello, excellent choice Hal. I really appreciate "Bitter," a sort of summation of the intimate sounds of her early work, and the more vibrant and recent "Confort Woman," which came before this and is considered by many to be one of the peaks of her discography. Byez :-)

Do you happen to have the "Winter EP" released in 2002? That one also seems to be very interesting ;-)

But no, "Ten", listen to this Kosmo. There is no competition! :-))

I've heard great things about it, I'll try listening to it. Dissected, I see you're a fan of the sounds of Anticon and Lex, my regards. I was thinking of reviewing "Square" or "Man Overboard" by Buck 65 or "Seed To Sun" by Boom Bip, two other geniuses from the label. Great recommendations in any case, try reading my take on the first cLOUDDEAD. Bye :-)
