LA RECENSIONE

Why? is a very fascinating character, balanced between hip-hop and unabashedly pop melodies, making it hard to discern his ultimate direction. Yet, what he does works, and this album demonstrates it well. Elephant Eyelash is fundamentally a pop album but in his own way; that is, with oblique melodies and off-kilter pieces, traces of hip hop (which often resurface), and unconventional arrangements. The young man in question had already dabbled in the pop music world without ever straying too far, always remaining somewhat (a somewhat quite relative, I admit) anchored to his roots. This time, however, he lets go, and the result is variable: there are indeed fantastic songs (especially "Sandollars", "Gemini" and "Rubber Traits") and pieces that go unnoticed, but fortunately, none of the 12 tracks are bothersome, which makes for a good album, at times great.

In short: Why? lacks neither ideas nor talent, and if he manages to refine this very personal formula, something exceptional is bound to emerge.
