I would also add House of Pain, El-P, High & Mighty, Non Phixion, DJ Muggs... There were already quite a few white artists who rap well by the time the good Marshall Mathers released his first album; back then, I was one of the few who wasn’t particularly surprised by the color of his skin ;-)

"Shitty tastes" is a phrase that was foreign to my vocabulary. Thanks SKIFF, over time you never stop learning ;-)

Don't you like Gnarls Barkley? :-)) The "fat guy" is Cee-Lo from Goodie Mob, not the last jerk, right? Let's just say that for them, DJ Shadow and Massive Attack I would have considered, but the rest I pretty much avoid, sorry. Even if I didn't mind "Transmission From Satellites Heart" by FL ;-)

A clever and calculating artist who has managed, over the years, to build a persona, sell millions of copies, and attract a large following from all around the globe. Is all that glitters really gold? I wouldn’t know… I don’t belong to either the category of people who elevate him to "King of Rap music," nor to those who belittle him without providing sensible reasons. I certainly don’t mind his first two albums and his collaborations from the late '90s with Rawkus ("Any Man" above all), but the rest I believe is the result of one of the most brilliant marketing operations of recent years, including "Encore."

An artist I just can't seem to like at all, sorry. Great review, dear Poletti ;-)
