:D They were making bold films back then... Another truly delightful one is "The Lizard with a Woman's Skin," one of Lucio Fulci's most convincing works, shot in 1972... The soundtrack, to change things up, is by a certain Ennio Morricone... ;-))
Grace Jones Island Life

5 for a collection? Isn't that a bit much? Rather than starting with "Island Life," you could easily begin with "Nightclubbing" and "Slave To The Rhythm," two beautiful albums released within a few years of each other, undoubtedly great keys to access the strange world of Grace Jones, an ever-eclectic and enigmatic character...

...it had appeared TWICE, clearly... ;-))

It doesn't seem to me that Panjabi MC has presented anything particularly innovative... In the second half of the '90s, in fact, the phenomenon of Asian Underground had already exploded, thanks to a whole series of artists (Talvin Singh, Cornershop, Nitin Sawhney, the very same Asian Dub Foundation...), who, mixing clearly Electro sounds with the most disparate influences (even folkloric...), had definitely gained a good level of visibility... The same Rajinder Rai (this is the real name of Mr. Panjabi, who has very little or nothing of "MC") had appeared in several compilations released during those years, the excellent "Asian Underground" and "Swaraj", in the latter with "Jogi (Stoned And Live)", cleverly re-released after the sensational success of "Mundian To Bach Ke"...

Nice record, perhaps hindered by a slight inconsistency and not the best audio quality... Personally, I prefer the previous "Power, Corruption & Lies" from '83... Lovely, Ghem! ;-)

Magnificent, like all the soundtracks of the maestro, created between the '60s and '70s... Compared to other works from that period, which leaned towards a suggestive mix of majestic orchestrations and Jazz/Lounge ambient atmospheres, this one is more oriented towards rhythms with a strong Jazz-Funk flavor, which was all the rage at the time, yet it remains of the highest level... I take this opportunity to highlight a soundtrack by the Maestro, somewhat unknown, but truly interesting: the one created in 1971 for the film "Veruschka - Poesia Di Una Donna," directed by Franco Rubartelli, and starring Veruschka Von Lehndorff (recently reappeared in "Casino Royale...!!), a beautiful journey with strong "psychedelic" tones... A must-recover, along with the musical score, re-released in 2003, also on vinyl... That's all!

I didn't compare them; I merely reported a judgment from a large part of public opinion, without specifying whether I agree or not... Sometimes, it wouldn't hurt to read more carefully, just to avoid unnecessary outbursts... ;-)

A work certainly much anticipated, in which the desire to shed the image of "Green Day clones" is undoubtedly strong, perhaps too strong... Personally, some choices in production and arrangements seemed a bit excessive to me, too grandiose and mannered... Better "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge"... ;-)

Their most successful work... Congratulations on the cover! :-))
