I read the book just this year, I found the first Italian edition at a used bookstore (which isn't worth much but still makes me very proud of the purchase). I've never seen the film, but if this is the impression you had, it perfectly matches the book. No soft bunnies, the writer, if I'm not mistaken, started telling his daughters stories about these rabbits inspired by a naturalistic essay on these animals and then turned it into a novel. One of the most captivating and educational reads of this year. Moreover, at every chapter, there are learned quotes that have provided some very "intense" food for thought. Beautiful.

Every song by the lawyer that I discover is a heart-wrenching experience.

Matilde (what a beautiful name!) can't say that her dad, when she was little, didn’t make her listen to good music... and also discover a whole bunch of things related to it.

They struck me: classical, sitar, complex casino, jazz, and effects for alien voice.
Then I'll tell you.

I also laughed at the quotes; he managed to sneak in the grudge (I think that's the one) and the ending of fight club. Who knows how many others I missed... Good job on avoiding the spoiler. A really fair review.
