HERE IS THE REAL INTERVIEW THAT NEVER AIRED. THANK YOU AMYL FOR YOUR COLLABORATION.
And with this, it's three.
I haven't written as much for the Ramones as I have for Amyl And The Sniffers. It's the old law of the ox cart. "... Amyl and the Sniffers are here and now, possibly the most beautiful thing to happen to punk music in the new century after Amyl without the Sniffers."
What follows is the account –which I have to adulterate before publishing, to avoid compromising myself– of a killer series of questions that I posed to the Melbourne group solely for the love of good music.
To start, can you tell me a bit about the beginnings of the band and briefly introduce the members?
Amyl and the Sniffers started early 2016. I sing.
[Shit, do I need to do some research to bulk up the answer or is this good?]
Even though you are Australian, your musical style seems very close to Australian punk (Saints, Victims, Fun Things). Are there any bands that particularly influenced you besides the Ramones, those from “I Don’t Wanna Be a Pinhead No More…” [audio link from DeBe].
Ok, Ok, stop singing! Please! Pleeeeease! I think we gather influence from a variety of sounds and bands but you. And we subscribe to the petition
#BASTARANONES. What relationships [groaning] do you have with online music distribution?
Have you listened to track number two on “Big Attraction”?
[Omissis]
I think next year's tour will take you to play outside of Australia. How do you feel knowing you'll be playing on the other side of the world, where we don't walk upside down? But you are getting famous (which would be great)?
Fuck you. Can't wait for it all.
Finally, can you tell me something about the current Australian rock scene and suggest some bands to keep an eye on, besides yourselves of course?
On what? Sure!
With love, Amyl
