Great page, Bromike! I understand he lives in Pavia. And here comes the anecdote. A few years ago, I saw him in concert at the Sagra dai Pirus (Pear Festival) in Pavia di Udine. Introducing a song, he said, "I love Pavia!" And the local audience immediately praised him. To which, very spontaneously, he replied, "But not this one, the real one!" A barrage of boos (well-deserved).
