So, I won't lie to myself: this album really excites me ever since I discovered Sfera by pure chance with "Cavallini." It's opened up a world for me that I completely ignored before: dirty south and trap music, English grime, French trap, etc. Back then, I listened to very little rap and only knew the bare minimum. Thanks to this album, I found out I absolutely love the works of Future, Lex Luger, ASAP Ferg, as well as more underground or niche rappers like Yung Lean and the Suicideboys.

It's strange how a single album can lead you to discover so many interesting things. That's why when it comes to Sfera Ebbasta, I find it hard to be completely critical of him, even though he hasn't managed to replicate this masterpiece afterward (I'm currently reevaluating his latest, but it doesn't fully convince me).

That said, what else can I say about this album? For me, it’s an insane record; it creates a dirty, wicked, and almost claustrophobic atmosphere. It conveys the true anxiety of street life: the productions were so innovative here in Italy that now everyone copies them. Back in 2015, this stuff didn't exist or was done poorly. The use of autotune for the first time was truly innovative and not just a simple tool to make choruses; the lyrics were basic but really intense and suffering. You can feel Sfera's discomfort in the songs, especially in "Brutti Sogni" (by writing, definitely the best). The often obsessive repetition of certain words used almost as slogans anticipated everything that came after. And to think it took me a while to get into it; at first, it was disorienting to hear this stuff, but now it's the norm. Despite all possible flaws, Sfera Ebbasta brought a breath of fresh air to Italian music, and that's more than enough. Great review.

You underestimate "miserere" too much; if you judge sugar solely by its hits, then you haven't understood anything at all.
