Beautiful review, and beautiful album.
Challenging yet evocative.

I remember I came home one evening and my sister was watching it. There was this guy acting like a rapper, all full of himself; the song starts, he begins to sing... they realize his microphone is off, Amadeus comes in and interrupts everything. Then they start again. And it still sounded like pure crap.

Both of my balls dropped to the floor, I say goodbye to my sister and leave. And of course, I didn't watch anything after that.

apperò: such an enthusiastic review for the latest from Roisin? Then I'll have to check it out sooner or later.
I won't add any macho comments (which would obviously be compliments for her) for the sake of good manners :D

"they don't want to, they must not, they cannot" a papal quote for the Brutal Death popes :D
You're right, I think; they never evolved, so after those three or four albums of the golden age, I lost the desire to continue (but now and then I put the Mutilated's tomb back on).

I didn't understand Webster: is there no bass, or does someone else play it? He is indeed good, but it's worth mentioning that the presence of bass in their sound is practically absent... except for certain brief moments like the break in Hammer Smashed Face.

I'm reading your reviews of Wishbone Ash and I want to compliment you on this completist passion for a definitely lesser-known band; I can sense a love for music (and also plenty of nerdiness) both from you and in the band's history.

That being said, I only have Argus (which is cool) but I guess I will never listen to these records.

It bored me.
For this type of entertainment, I prefer MCU.

I went through a phase where I was fascinated by them. I even saw them live a couple of times. However, it's been years since this way of making music has bored me a bit... but maybe I'll give them a listen on YouTube.

Very cool album.
I’m going a bit against the grain here and I say that for me, from a certain point onward (well, I haven’t listened to them in years), my favorite of theirs became Morning View.
Partly because they didn’t seem to imitate Faith No More as much anymore, partly because Boyd is talented at singing and, in my opinion, he sounds even better on more pop songs, partly because in the end they were good musicians and knew how to arrange pop songs well, and also because the production on that album was really excellent.
By the next album (the one with the crow), they weren’t as focused as they were on Morning View... after that, I stopped listening to them.

Anyway, great memories :)

Beautiful! Regarding Leone, I agree completely: for me too, her sopracciaglia (can you believe what I'm writing?) are her strong point XD

Absolutely amazing! Courageous to review Lady Gaga this way. The hits from The Fame were incredible, and I don’t think she’s hit the mark on that dignified trash vibe quite like she did back then. I've always found her very likeable.
