Cripple Bastards Misantropo A Senso Unico
Voto:
I had the chance to listen to this album a few years ago... what can I say, in terms of lyrics and themes we are faced with a remarkable album, the lyrics are among the few sensible and truthful ones, the genre isn't one of my favorites, but some masterpieces like "dio è merda," "sbocco nichilista," and "la repulsione negli occhi" alone add a considerable value to the album, which is nonetheless quite appreciable, even though a bit tacky, predictable, and banal in some ways. Worth noting are the riffs of "il sentimento non è amore" and "quasi donna..femminista"; the rest is pretty much below par musically. "nascere per violentarsi" I’d say is the best on the record, but I've heard many call it one of the most extreme platters in the world... bullshit, I've heard stuff that is much, much more extreme and nihilistic (even from other genres). Giulio's voice is also lacking; it's not aggressive or incisive, and it's somewhat incomprehensible. Still, a 3 is fair. "dio in concreto è il marcio che vi circonda!"

COMMENT: I think this is one of the most overrated albums in history. Let it be clear, it is a good album and a good band, although I've always preferred their colleagues ToT by far (who, obviously based on the first 3 albums, have produced works that are largely superior to Tristania). Still, they are undoubtedly a fundamental band for the b&b genre, but even here I found them more decisive and characteristic in ToT, where the two voices blend perfectly, unlike Tristania, where they seem not to coexist perfectly. On the Tristania product, we have a superior growl, but a Vibeke who, while good, does not hold up against the great Liv. The album is interesting at times, the beginning is a bit uncertain, "A Sequel of Decay" stands out, a masterpiece, "Lethean River" and "Heretique" are also great, the rest are at most 6 out of 10 songs, and it’s definitely not the masterpiece that many praise... I prefer W.O.G. THE REVIEW is good, although a bit hasty and with some scattered errors here and there :)

Well, I think this is one of the most overrated albums in history.
Let it be clear, this is a good album and a good band, although I have always greatly preferred their colleagues ToT (who, obviously, based on the first 3 albums, have done works far superior to Tristania).

Regarding Tristania's product, we have a superior growl but a Vibeke who, although valid, cannot stand up to the great Liv.
The album is interesting in parts; the beginning is a bit uncertain, but "A Sequel of Decay" stands out—it's a masterpiece. "Lethean River" and "Heretique" are also excellent, while the rest are songs that barely reach a 6. It's certainly not the masterpiece of an album that many hail... I prefer W.O.G.

I agree with Sly, it's true that, in summary, it's a copy of many other projects of this kind, After Forever above all, but the album needs to be digested over time... it's not that bad, the production is indeed lacking, some sounds are definitely amateurish, the mastering is pitiful and overly compressed, the mixing of the drums especially leaves much to be desired, the mixing of the vocals is the same, but it must be said that Manda has a very beautiful voice, which in some ways reminds me of her fellow countrywoman Sharon. Tracks like "Threefold Law," "Angel in the Dark," and "Disclosure" are very valid, others are forgettable (like the overly cheesy pseudo-mystical "Dies Irae"), while some seem to have that extra something, but they never fully convince, and this is one of the major flaws of the album, namely interesting ideas that are not properly exploited, just think of "The Taker." All in all, I recommend a more attentive listen to this album; tastes are tastes, personality counts in this genre, that's true, but even a copycat album can have its reasons. We're not facing a masterpiece, but a passing grade is deserved. Two stars seems exaggerated to me.

it's not like the previous 2 albums, but giving it one star is absurd... it's a 4-star album, too bad about 2 or 3 tracks that are too blatantly mtiviani and commercial, but overall it's a good album that I've played to death like all of this great band's works. I think I'll write a more worthy review because if you call this garbage a review... 3 lines.. bah
