I almost forgot: as for the ratings, it's perfectly normal that a 4 for Kelis and a 4 for Miles Davis, just like a 4 for an avant-garde record or any other genre, carry different meanings. It's clear that the artistic depth of a Kelis is practically nil compared to Miles. However, Kelis (like any other name) can still be liked (not by me) even without much artistic depth (many praise bands like Nirvana and Sex Pistols despite lacking any form of talent)... a bit like how the newspaper gives a 6 to Pepe and a 6 to Cristiano Ronaldo... are they on the same level? ;D

So: -ilmigliore- I know you listen to other stuff besides metal [for example, recently it seems you are very addicted to kaos :D] that's a good and right thing [compared to the classic metalhead style playka19 :D], but what I’m saying is absolutely true. Slayer, Metallica, and metal in general (talking about these well-known bands) are commercial and aimed at a mostly adolescent target, just like Kelis (in the case of metalheads, there's also an impressive side of gadgets, t-shirts, and shows on MTV that would make even the 5000 re-releases + 1 unreleased track of pop albums envious). @darius: ilmigliore just wants to point out that there is much more valid music out there, so it's a bit of a waste to close yourself off to Madonna, Kelis, etc. (unless you're collecting Davis and Zappa). By the way, these two are rather mediocre considering that there are better options in similar genres (like Marina & the Diamonds, Kate Nash, Lily Allen). On the other hand, it’s wrong to dismiss something just because it’s commercial, or rather "pop," perhaps not realizing that Metallica is more pop (in the true sense of the genre) than Kelis!
