Well, aside from the discussions about Pirandello's political affiliation (and I’m glad to see how many people express disgust at the fascist membership card in his possession), a book should also be judged by what it leaves you with, by how many times you find yourself reflecting on it even years later. In my personal opinion, this is one of the highest peaks of Italian literature; a book with a plot that can be summarized in 10 pages, practically devoid of "action," entirely based on introspection and dialogues. I'm not saying that everyone should like it, but for me, it is an absolute MASTERPIECE.
