Ornella Vanoni Io dentro, io fuori
Voto:
Ornella Vanoni and the New Trolls... except for Nico, and you can tell. You know, I can't remember which songs are featured in "Avere Vent'anni"? I need to rewatch it.

Even from the title, it’s clear how it was designed for a theatrical performance. Live, it must have been a truly unique show, but when I listen to it, I have to make an effort not to piece together the lyrics: taken individually, there are some very valuable things, but the concept as a whole has always seemed terribly kitsch to me. Or maybe it’s precisely the kitsch that was the shocking force of that decade...

Already? A couple of tracks had been proposed live, if I’m not mistaken, during the last tour; I remember they seemed “mechanical” to me (I don’t use this word negatively). What a nice summer surprise.

A little personal rant: the organizers mess up the location for the Italian concert, and they don’t think twice. They cancel everything without even trying to find an alternative, leaving open options like "let's change the city or venue" or "let's change the date." In short, an audience that has always loved them, like the Italian one, is completely disregarded. Feeling like I’m being played for a fool—and considering how bitter it leaves me to think that I won’t have the chance to hear Iommi's guitar live again (not to blame him, but I don’t know how much longer he’ll last)—I won’t listen to this album out of principle.

Slowly, I've gotten there, and I can't seem to leave. What a wonder!

They've gone too... what a melancholy! (which perhaps is quite fitting with the album)
Tim Buckley Happy Sad

"Dream Letter" is one of the most moving things you can listen to in the rock scene and beyond. And then they ask me why I listen to so little contemporary rock...

I am crazy about "Joanie's Butterfly" and its oriental flavor...

But is Golzi also there? I need to give it a listen!!!

Mom, what memories... I admit I never had much luck with girls as a teenager, but at least I had Mercyful Fate instead of Gazebo (never, ever, ever could stand them). This album has always left me with a bad taste of "clumsy," especially the suite, which I've always found a bit too patchwork (and then Mike should explain to me why he wanted to sing the few vocal parts himself). Much more interesting to my ears is the second side. By the way: as far as I remember, you're the second one to connect Jon Anderson with the "gay world"... huh???
