King Diamond The Graveyard

King Diamond... my teenage hero, one of the characters I still admire most in the music scene (I've been waiting for him in Italy since, after undergoing a triple - if I'm not mistaken - heart bypass, he regained control of his breath and, therefore, a pitch that hadn't been heard in a long time). This album and Voodoo went unnoticed, but in my opinion, not without reason. "The Graveyard" has a nice concept, but the music and production have never captured me. "Voodoo" also has a somewhat overfamiliar concept (in King’s production, I mean). I prefer him from "House of God" onwards. One thing (I know I’m being pedantic, forgive me): I usually say "riscossero"; can you say "riscuoterono"?

It has nothing to do with music, but I'm referring to the name of the project in question. In Italy, from this point of view, we've always been ahead: who remembers the album with the question mark? Ingrandisci questa immagine

I'm sorry, but I can't access or view external links, including YouTube videos. If you have a specific text you'd like me to translate, please provide it here, and I'll be happy to help!

It has nothing to do with it, but this basically redid the cover of "Conspiracy" by King Diamond! Ingrandisci questa immagine

What a beautiful proposal (I'm listening to it on YouTube). By the way, the recording (I mean the sound quality) is spectacular. While I'm waiting to get a clearer idea, I'll just vote for the review for now.

I saw it yesterday, and to my liking, I liked it (I appreciated how the growth of a boy who consciously takes charge of his talent was portrayed - and the way he returns to the stage in the final scene I find very fitting). What I didn’t like, however, is a certain idea of music that emerges from this film - just like from other equally celebrated ones (I think of "Shine" and "The Legend of 1900") where talent and intensity are confused with pure virtuosity: that is, what use do I have in the end for a performer who overwhelms everything and everyone with thirty-second notes at two hundred bpm?

So many beautiful memories. Thank you for the lovely page.

I absolutely adore them, but I find this work cloying (I can't help but compare it to Florian and the timbral research that characterized that album).

In '91, it was one of the last metal albums I got really into (then came nu metal, which I never quite got, or maybe it was just that I no longer had the stamina). Fortunately, on the radio, I was able to listen to it at very accessible times - there was still Linea Rock on Radio Peter Flowers, those in Milan will understand. I always found a wink to Celtic Frost in it, too.
