The downside, as rightly noted, is the characterization of the characters, which swings between nothingness and the most unbearable stereotypes. And it's a shame because the story of neural interconnection could have opened up some narrative possibilities that could have been leveraged much better. They probably ran out of money for special effects and with the crumbs patched together a cast of the lowest level.

Well, I grew up with cartoons like Goldrake, Mazinga, and the like, so I could only expect a worthy adaptation for such titanic battles from this spectacle. In this sense, the anticipation was rewarded: battles with an impressive level of spectacle and brutality (which is a plus) not found in other similar blockbusters. I mean... here the good guys are literally torn apart with unbridled violence. And that's a good thing.

... and tennis digressions aside, a really great page. As you have always accustomed us.

Honor and eternal glory to the second greatest tennis player of all time. In fact, I have a fondness for the arrogance and audacity of Supermac, as well as for his unparalleled net play... but I know it was a different sport :-)

I believe I've never come across it on any shelf of even the most chaotic shops. But perhaps it's because it was only today that it was pointed out to me as their best work. Let's see if it truly will survive the waves of the dairy ocean; you've piqued my curiosity.

So let it be XTRMNTR. At the beginning of my time on the deb, the widespread enthusiasm for Screamedelica pushed me to buy it. Looking back over 6 years, it's one of the few major disappointments that this magnificent site has given me, alongside "Come on die young" by Mogwai, which I never even managed to finish listening to after several attempts. But I'm digressing...

Screamedelica is the reason I didn’t continue with Primal. If their masterpiece made me feel that way, then they probably weren't for me. Maybe I should reconsider and give XTRMNTR and this a listen?

No hate, Sotanaht. As far as I’m concerned, I have no issues recognizing the merit of the first two albums; I might even add Achtung Baby, sure. However, that remains completely inadequate to justify the enormous acclaim received compared to the rest of the subsequent pile of crap. This acclaim perhaps evokes in me more outrage and dismay than a judgment that might even be snobbishly disdainful yet respectful of the place U2 hold in music history. To praise such a band is perhaps a sign of conformity and a lack of culture (musical, at the very least) that is far worse. Then the review is caricatured by how long-winded, exaggerated, and unbalanced it is.

I was just wondering whether a series of endless TBT reviews on a group that's already been covered extensively (which frankly sucks) would be more useful, or a nice roll of toilet paper with nettle and Tabasco.

However, I didn't mind Lullabies; if it had a few less tracks, it would have been a really remarkable album. Instead, it's quite lengthy and meandering. This one, on the other hand, has the gift of conciseness; it's more focused. If I could vote on the work, it would be a 3.5 rounded up to 4... but I will manage!
