THE REVIEW

Between a turbulent "Sailing the Seas of Cheese" and the subsequent corrosive sip of "Pork Soda" the bass-wrecker Mr. Claypool, accompanied by the faithful ex-death-metaller Larry LaLonde (Possessed, indeed) on the Hispanic guitar and the herbivorous Tim Alexander seated at the kit behind the skins, in their first of the four extended plays published so far, decided to subject to a surgical Primus-treatment a very selective and limited selection of only five tracks forged by other pens.

The lineup starts percussively with the good Gabriel (Peter, not the Magician), then moving on to the oblique psychedelic popsters English XTC; the trio then attempts (in vain) to humanize the inscrutable The Residents to then upset the Meters (who?) thus completing the set of chosen ones with the unknown Pink Floyd and their anti-smoking anthem par excellence "Have A Cigar".

The corresponding originals, as imagined by those who are aware of what kind of bumpkins these guys are - the others will be immediately banned - are lovingly therefore respectfully scrambled by these amiable rogues of the musical staff; consider that at the time of publication (1992) the cartoon-version inserted here of "Making Plans For Nigel" even reached number 30 on the Billoboard charts: not just any figure.

As a convinced atheist, I dare a blasphemy: (for me) the best Primus album.
