It's a great book, especially for its 'fulmicotonic' humor that is 'surreal-demented science fiction.'
For me, however, the most original in the series is the second one.
In the same genre (or almost), I fondly remember the wacky "Dramocles, intergalactic drama" by the great Sheckley.
But what I enjoyed the most is "Master of Space and Time" by the brilliant Rucker.
Thanks to his deep mathematical knowledge and more, he manages to elaborate the most surprising hypotheses, outsmarting everyone a bit (Planck constant, red gluons, blue gluons, ribs bushes and pancake trees, levels of uncertainty, infinite regressions, magic gates...etc³).
End of comment (surreal).

After many years, I remember it as a good movie.
It managed to validly address the topic of UFOs and aliens.
The 'reasoning' in the first paragraph is, without a doubt or uncertainty, predictable, worn out, and overused for years cubed³.
Sure, the 'deductions' are shareable, but also not!
It’s obvious that 99.9% of images, footage, and topics are not 'true'!
There are few experts in the field with extensive knowledge on the subject (J. A. Keel: APRO, SITU, Anomaly, The Mothman Prophecies).
Certain realities elude us because they are complex to understand and interpret in our 'world-existence'.
In the current state of evolution-sensitivity of the 'human race', with scientific laws and instruments based on our criteria of judgment, not much can be done (rare are the individuals with more advanced technologies).
The perception of other realities and unusual facts is denied to us in the vast majority, and it is not available through current means of information.
Our senses are often fallible, and what we perceive is only an infinitesimal part of what surrounds us.
Just think of the word alien, also understood as something else, superior or inferior to us (but deeper), that could 'interfere' with a tiny portion of our reality, but in a way that we cannot grasp at the moment.
Meta-analogical example: when we observe ants, they sense our presence in a certain way, but do they understand what we are?
So (perhaps) this could be the relationship between us and alien entities (or life forces from other levels).
The problem is that topics and disciplines such as: electromagnetism, parapsychology, precognition, ufology, para-physics (...continues), mix together, making everything more intricate.
The mysteries and doubts are many, and they will remain so for quite some time.
Perhaps (rightly?) to avoid radically disrupting 'our' society and maintaining a precise Status Quo (from interested forces), we are kept in the dark.
Even if Edgar Mitchell...
I would like to remember the movie "Eyes from the Stars," especially for the concepts expressed and for the ending...
There would be a lot to add about mysteries and mysterious objects found (Kolosimo), but this is not the most appropriate context.
