Iced Earth Framing Armageddon: Something Wicked - Part 1

I downloaded it, listened to it twice, and deleted it... A waste of time and bandwidth. In my opinion, Schaffer is past his prime; he can call whoever he wants to sing.

Eh, Dr. Adder... I listened to "Bawlers" (the second CD of "Orphans") for a week straight after a big heartbreak, and all I could do was cry...
@ Melissa: yes, Joe Cocker is great, but he was even better when he was young. During that dark period, I also listened to "You Are So Beautiful" and all of "Mad Dogs & Englishmen"... Chilling (and tearful).

Of course, Melissa, and I find the original version of the piece you mentioned much better than the famous one by Joe Cocker. It's worth noting that the music composed by Newman is also not to be underestimated, and it contains unforgettable melodies, like for example the theme from "Ragtime."
Pearl Jam Vitalogy

"Not For You," in my opinion, is clearly inspired by "This Note's For You" by Neil Young, with whom PJ collaborated after this album. "Vitalogy" contends for the title of the most beautiful Pearl Jam album alongside "Versus" (the second one, for those uninitiated)... I remember the frantic anticipation for these records when I was a young lad, living music as it happened, rather than hearing about it secondhand like that of the '70s. I bought Vitalogy in Bologna during my dismal year at university, and I recall the surprise and delight in discovering all the little goodies that were included in the booklet, as well as listening to the most beautiful music I had ever "heard" at the time.

Emotion. The first de-rece for me (not perfect, I forgot to mention that Newman performs with just piano and voice). Thanks to Jake and especially to Barbanera for the comments and ratings. Stay tuned for more reviews...

I used to think Cradle of Filth were ridiculous, then I listened to these... The review made me laugh (like they do, after all), so a full score.

On Verona and its surroundings, here’s my take: since the beginning of the year, the company I work for has been administratively managed by a subsidiary in Isola della Scala (VR, a more depressed area than Rovigo); well, I can say that our colleagues over there are among the most unpleasant, dull, and annoying people I have ever worked with. Furthermore, the young ladies in the area seem to have a marked tendency to be free with their affections, even with outsiders, only to then marry the locals to preserve the purity of the race... Good for them!

At the time of its release, this album seemed like a masterpiece to me, but back then I was much more into metal than I am now. Now it no longer gives me the same emotions as before, and I've scaled back my opinion of it.
Nonetheless, say what you will, but this album features one of the most beautiful musical passages I've ever heard; right in the middle of the last track, a sweet female voice floats over a swelling tapestry of strings, as if granting a pause before the thunderous (and overwhelming) finale.

Congratulations, with your review you've done a great job of mouth for this "stellar" album, then you slapped it with zero stars! And it may very well be an immense masterpiece, this "One", but then you have to explain to me the 5 given to Avril Lavigne; is that perhaps a masterpiece too and we’re the ones who don't get it? I'd leave the praises to God to those who believe in Him, like Neal Morse, who should pray to the Lord to help him find the inspiration he lost after leaving Spock's Beard...

They spoke well of it in Buscadero too, which must mean something, and skill and experience are certainly not lacking in good old Bobby. Full confidence all around.
