Nick Drake Time Of No Reply

What images Nick Drake has gifted me.... If someone were to ask me, "out of all your listens, tell me one name, just one that stands out above the rest," my mind wouldn't know how to respond, but perhaps my heart would!

I quote Templare. I have two albums by Porcupine and I don’t know why I expected so much from them (him) at first. "On the sunday of life..." anyway, it’s a good album, I don’t know this one.

You're right, Ole, I meant very little in comparison to the impressive number of names that populated that musical realm. Other valid bands come to my mind as well (for example, I would save the Arti e Mestieri album "Tilt," which is a great record, or the New Trolls from the two big concerts, the Locanda delle Fate album that is also good, or recently I was listening to the Dedalus, a pretty decent group...) and I certainly don't know everything that was going on at that time. But among the overwhelming majority of the other 15 or 20 names I know and have been able to listen to, it seems to me that "a certain ridiculous pretentiousness" reigns supreme. For me, there are still very few truly exceptional Italian bands from that period.

Nice topic, Adder. In this area, I'm a bit inexperienced as well; I’ll just note your suggestion and also recommend listening to Claus Boesser Ferrari (discovered through a specialized magazine; I think you might know "Chitarre"), one of the few acoustic virtuosos I know, along with the mentioned Hedges. He truly deserves it.

For my tastes, three is even too much. I save very few bands from the Italian '70s "rock-prog" scene. First and foremost, Area, Le Orme, Pfm, Banco, Osanna, and a little more. But back then, Italy was overflowing with bands like this, which had little or nothing to say (I want to stress that these are personal tastes, okay?). If I'm not mistaken, Nanni Civitenga (the guitarist) even sold an amp to my father ^_^.... It seems that Civitenga also contributed during his career to the writing of a couple of soundtracks for the great Morricone.

I quote cptgaio, I don’t really like it either (I agree that "Amore nel pomeriggio" is a wonderful album).

But what a beautiful proposal today in hp. Well done to you too, the review is simple but piques interest (what's the point otherwise?). Even just the last sentence would have been enough, "In a Whisper" is definitely a love song, a reflection of unspoken words, stolen glances. Music for moments of relaxation, but also of great emotional intensity." Really beautiful.

I like your writing style, straightforward and without fluff, and your suggestions are always interesting. Good job, macaco.
