As often happens in life, even in music a chance encounter can spark a flame of poetry. This is what happened between Gino Fioravanti (piano) and Mirko Fait (soprano sax). Creating the 'trait d'union' is John Toso (co-author of the pieces), who with skillful mastery guided the two musicians on a parallel path.
On the evanescent notes and relaxing, almost hypnotic melodies played by Fioravanti on a Steinway grand piano, intertwines the persuasive sound of a soprano sax that, despite having a romantic tone, draws voice from a language inspired by jazz.
This is especially evident in the improvisations that follow the melodic lines of the pieces (including those by John Toso), full of gentle energy.
Rarefied atmospheres that increasingly appeal to the taste of an audience attentive to these soundscapes without territorial, racial, or musical boundaries.
"In a Whisper" is certainly a song of love, a reflection of unspoken words, stolen glances. Music for moments of relaxation, but also of great emotional intensity.
