THE REVIEW

A man embarks on one of the usual space expeditions and returns to Earth, whether after years, hours, or just moments is unknown, but the Earth he knew no longer exists, there's only the "Nothing" surrounding him. He is alone in a world that is no longer a world. He climbs "On a cliff" the only one left and looking at all the ruins, he tries to understand why mankind has self-destructed, recalling himself as a child when he played "In his neighborhood". Suddenly, a flash in the sky, the only thing reminding him of life, but he sees that from the sky "The world falls" on him and he cannot react, he watches the sun advancing menacingly toward him from the horizon like "A shadow" but this world that was "A puppet stage" leaves in his mind only "Crystal dreams" that shatter into the "Nothing".

I Raccomandata ricevuta ritorno shed light on their only album in 1972. "For...a world of crystal" is a concept album of good local progressive music, like most Italian bands of the time (obviously excluding BMS, AREA, JUMBO, and ACQUA FRAGILE) the voice is the weak point of this album. The very refined sounds and rich jazz inserts are the backbone of the concept. The group attempts tracks with laid-back atmospheres like "Nulla", to tracks with sudden and sharp changes like "On a cliff". "The world (falls on me)" is rich with percussion and flutes, the sound becomes delirious, then silence falls and from a distant world, the mournful sound of a cello comes forth. "In my neighborhood" the references to the masters KING CRIMSON are evident, however, RRR demonstrate their instrumental prowess sufficiently passing the tough test. In "The shadow" and in a "Puppet stage" Luciano Regoli's voice carves out its space; these are tracks with laid-back atmospheres, where piano, Hammond organ, and flutes soften the sense of man's self-destruction. "Crystal dreams" is the album's final track, with small hints of space rock and cheerful atmospheres.

Recommended for enthusiasts and collectors of the genre.

Nanni Civitenga: acoustic and 12-string electric guitar

Stefano Fiermarioli: keyboards

Francesco Proggio: drums, percussion

I already appreciate them just for this!

An album to listen to in order to better understand what Italian progressive music was like in the '70s.
