Electric Masada At The Mountains Of Madness

Jake, remember that I’m in Corumayeur, come on, and there’s a bit of wind here. I’m proud of Muito’s return, I really despaired of never seeing him again (Muito, I don’t know if you commented on "Rimini Rimini" and in general my last reviews before the retreat). Ole Einar!!! Summer hasn’t changed you, how’s it going in Pordenone? I hope you’re not still eager to debate my ā€œmission,ā€ come on. And Poletti, is he alive or has he been trapped inside the Idroscalo?

Hi Jake! Your review (with a 5-star rating) arrives on time like the first whispers of autumn, almost like a breeze for the soul. Unfortunately, I’m still on vacation, coming back to write - for you and many others, as well as with you and many others - at the end of September, early October. It’s nice to know that, in my absence, the quality of the reviews and musical proposals on the site remains high, here and now thanks to you. ST, Il_Paolo

Hi guys!!!! After more than a month, thanks to my cousin Paolissima's laptop, I can connect here from Porto Cervo. I see you looking gloomy and serious: don't worry, I'll be back. Regarding the heavy topics addressed in the various posts - freedom of expression, limits on the reviewed subject, style, and so on - I see that someone has called me into question: you know how I think. Everything can be said because everything is "sayable" within the limits of the extrinsic logic of the verbal code used, as long as it is done politely and without gratuitous personal attacks: I, for example, have always done so and have a clear conscience, while others may not. I share the inspiration of Boop 7, but not so much the execution of the dereview, though I think it can grow: they were decent, and especially the blonde, not bad in terms of aesthetics. The limit was the lack of inspiration: first Ireland, then Latin pop, in a drift that in the '70s and '80s could have led them toward hardcore, but luckily (or unfortunately, depending) times have changed. Now I have to go, they are waiting for me by the pool with a Coke mojito, I recommend it! SV, Il__Paolo
Paola Turci Saluto L'Inverno
Voto:
Okay for the choice. However, talking about Turci without mentioning her as Paolino Canè's girlfriend and without contextualizing the work of the "Italian Suzanne Vega" in the historical and social context of our country costs you one point less!

Never seen it, I guess I need to catch up. I also need to check out Polanski's "The Tenant" - it seems not too dissimilar from this one - while I recommend everyone watch "The Perfume of the Lady in Black," an Italian film I recently saw that - according to the experts - captures Polanski's atmospheres quite well. In a little while, Chapman will be out of jail: I wonder what his musical tastes are now and who - among many - is his idol. I hope it's not Christian! SV, Il_Paolo
Rush Moving Pictures
Voto:
A brief review of an album that - as far as themes and lyrics are concerned - certainly deserves deeper considerations (it's one of my desert island albums, along with the best of Vianella). Musically, it represents the peak of Rush, a synthesis between the rawness of their early days and the ethereal atmospheres of their '80s albums. Good taste, nonetheless.

Peach: look, we're saying the same thing. The groups you mention make a certain type of music based on certain influences, while the ones I mention make different music based on other influences. You can't mix "pears" (Lou Reed) with "bananas" (Gene Simmons) and confuse it all on a night when - as a German friend of mine once said - "all cows are black." Now laRock can defend itself, so I’m not taking its side, but your criticisms seem absurd to me, considering that one usually experiences a concert as part of the situation and you can't expect someone to come here on Deb to compile an autopsy report on that experience. Yours politely, Il_Paolo

Very interesting review, well done. I’m also glad, and I must say it surprises me, that a politician from the Andreotti faction ("A Fra' che tte serve?!?"), so despised by many, has written such important pages of contemporary Italian music.

Peach, the influence of Kiss on young people born in the '60s and '70s - those who were between 14 and 18 years old in the States during the peak of the "Kiss phenomenon" - is historically equal to that of the Beatles on young English people a decade earlier: which means that anyone who started playing rock at that time did so directly or indirectly thanks to the Kiss - and certainly due to their appealing and ambiguous image (from Metallica, to Motley Crue, to Bon Jovi, to Kurt Cobain, passing through Billy Corgan, etc... in short, all pretty and ugly). I don't want to discuss the quality of the music too much; I personally like it, especially the saturated and raw sound of the early years, and I find "Destroyer" beautiful. You also cite heavyweight artists, but historically, their influence has been negligible, although it has been enormously important for the avant-gardes from which a lot of quality music emerged. And how rude you are with my pseudo fake, and thus real, laRock! Yours informally, Il_Paolo
